If he had said, "I really want to marry her but we haven't set a date yet", would that have changed what happened?

To answer some other questions--she wrote cancelled on his visa in his passport and told him that he could apply for another visa.

Of course if he had answered like that, it would have changed what happened!!! That would've shown that he has the intention of marrying you, you just haven't planned out anything yet. The way he answered made it seem like he might just not marry you after all. That's a complete different answer than the one he gave to CBP and would've changed the entire outcome of his interview.

Your immigration timeline says you applied for K1 visa in 2015. I'm confused. Did this happen ages ago? Or is he just now coming to the US two years later?? Wouldn't it be out of date?

before trying again to travel -if the visa was not cancelled- I would have him go to embassy (or you call them up ) and check what is the status.

It doesn't say what country he's from, and that might be a factor...Good luck

Never mind, I read that it was cancelled....then you have only 2 options, do another K-1, which might be doomed or marry him at his country and CR1

Her timeline says the consulate is Tunisia. Wonder if that was a factor too?

It isn't on the travel ban list, if that's what you mean.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

No that's not what I mean.  I was wondering if that consulate is a hard one to get thru like others on that continent.  I know he already made it thru the hard part, but is there a stigma with that location that the CO had suspicions?

Maybe so, maybe no. But they did issue the Visa, so  you would think they would have been good. I think it had more to do with that peculiar response.

My fiance was denied entry to the USA on a K1 visa.  It was a nightmare.  I was waiting for him outside of customs at JFK in NY, NY.  The customs agent asked him when we were getting married and he said maybe we will, maybe we won't and she sent him home.  She said he didn't qualify for the K1 visa.  We think she was just looking for ANY reason to send him home.  Practice your answers for entry just as much as you did for the visa interview.  So sad.

His answer to her question is a huge red flag. He doesnt seem serious about the relationship

Yes it is hard.  It is considered a high fraud country as well as most North African and middle eastern countries.

If I were in front of a CBP officer on a K1 and she asks me when was I getting married, and my response was '..maybe I will or maybe I won't..'.

Put yourself in the officer's shoes. What would the officer think in that moment?  She had no choice but to deny.

The officer's reaction was correct.

You don't play games with them.

I really hope that you can talk to your fiancé and work things out but like I said in an earlier comment, maybe he just wanted to marry you to get a Green Card.

I dont get where anyone is coming from most notably this guy w/ his unbelievable response. Why would you go thru all this process. Fly aboard only to finally get the border and just thell the CBP ' meh, maybe'? why board the plane at all?  F up some form would be a lot easier. or you know not board the plane. The cold feet doesnt make sense to me, at least come thru talk it thru and then go home. Id like to think more misccomunication but still very awkward answer.

What country is the fiance from??? Tunisa.. yeah, not surprised! you cant joke around with anyting anymore let alone from that country!!!!!! It has the highest fraud rate so i will say he was rightfully denied!!!

Also, people from certain countries will get asked less countries when coming on a K1 or any visa for that reason!  so you cant compare coming from canada/uk/NZ/aus because it is a much MUCH easier process!! so people saying they got asked less questions - yes, you are probably from a low fraud country.

secondly, going thru the border is a serious matter!  especially with everything happening in this day and age...why would ANYONE joke around???

FYI i am guessing you are an older woman.. i would say you dodged a bullet!!!
