I dont know what happened before, in other threads, but reading all the comments, i feel like most people are kind of being mean to OP. Every person is different, some are too emotional, some are holeric, others pessimistic. I am also worried, and will believe that my approved case is not a dream only after POE. OP, good luck, and hang in there!

I would suggest you look through the United Kingdom regional forum. Not one person on there has ever been mean to Corvusheart. Every one has offered advice, insight etc, which a lot of the time was ignored or challenged, because it wasn't what they wanted to hear.

This whole process is an extremely stressful, worrying and tiring process for everyone, some handle it better than others. Those on the UK forum have been extremely respectful of Corvusheart, and to categorise most people as being 'mean' is just wrong. What we have tried to do (especially the more senior members, of which I am not one) is reassure her that everything will be ok, because we stressed out about a multitude of things in our own journeys, & personally I know I will stress out about a lot more along the way.

Thanks.

It's good that you all have been respectful to the OP and offered advice before, just keep being supportive. If you are tired of being so, no need to make fun of the OP, advicing her to re-read the topic 3 times, or to turn off the internet, etc etc etc. If you think someone is not smart enough to understand something from the first time, or has depression, show some sympathy, otherwise don't write anything at all. And, I'm not talking about you now, Mbrennan, don't take it personal.

This is actually true.

There's a checklist of things that the back-office krewe go through, after interview day...

Once they are done with that, then another Vice-Consul, sometimes the head of the IV Unit, actually handles the flip to 'issued' status.

For many IV Units - there is a mandatory 'AP' process that takes an additional week to three, and folk seek it on CEAC status and flip out....

In the end, once it's set to 'ISSUED' status, that's still not the end game,

as

the stuff held at the IV Unit, a compilation of things that represent the entire casefile (stuff you sent, stuff the beneficiary sent, reports from FBI namechecks, reports from the Vice Consuls in the IV Unit, reports from NVC) all has to be glommed together

into that mysterious 'Do No Open' packet - which is actually the entire collection o paperwork, from Day 0 till yesterday,

and then it's logged, then shoved over to the mailroom, where a courier picks it up (along with the 1100 handled yesterday) ....

it's sent out as a 'Visa Packet' via a courier to the Visa Beneficiary,

who will find inside of it:

1. a passport with the visa stamp and

2. a collection of paperwork that should be scanned and emailed around then there is

3. something about the medical results (CD with the xray, summation report of the medical exam) then there is

4. that 'do not open' packet...

In essense, distilled, the visa beneficiary becomes a highly paid courier (paid by you or her) for the Department of HomeLand Security,

as the casefile in his/her hands is handed off to CBP at the POE, and winds it's way down to a USCIS office, where the A-File finally gets registered and activated, thus giving some status....

A-File's are important - they are reviewed by an Immigration Officer in the USA during:

1. AOS

2. ROC and

3. USCitizenship application review

so - after interview day - it ain't over till the visa packet is in the beneficiary's hand(s ) ...

Darnell: Thanks for that detailed breakdown. I am wondering if anyone can enlighten us as to how big (read heavy) the packet coming back from the consulate would be? I thought it would just be the Passport (with visa stamp) and a small sealed envelope containing the Medical Report.

Roughly large enough to use a weapon in case of an emergency.

(Ours was as thick as all the documentation that was sent as part of Packet 3; we sent a good amount, so got back a good amount.)

could between 1 to 11 inches - what is your real issue?

The real issue is my wife's suitcases are already quite full and her hand luggage, too. So a very heavy package would mean she will have to let go of some of her stuff that she was planning to bring.

The rest of your rambling response I won't even bother to address. But thanks all the same.

One post has been removed for unnecessary needling.

Two more have been removed for adding nothing to the thread.

Another has been removed for essentially telling another member (whose post was correct) to stop posting.

Above, someone has tried to hijack the thread, has been rude in the process, and is therefore thread-banned.

Anyone who dislikes posts from another member can use the VJ "Ignore" feature (search for it, rather than ask openly about it). Anyone who insists on using a handphone rather than a PC to work on VJ is losing considerable, often crucial, functionality. Anyone who fails to research the back story on other members and makes assumptions or accusations on the basis of limited information is serving no one well.

This thread is being left open for a while. Further transgressions will result in its closure, administrative action, or both. Thanks for your awareness.

I've given up on getting any form of respect here. You ask too many questions you get on the Eternal VJ Hate and Harassment List.

Back to the topic, I'm not getting my hopes up till I see issued status. In my view there has been no approval until issued status. The approval at the interview is more of a Pre-approval.

No one hates you....but you do tend to cause panic where none is needed. And no one is harassing you. People are giving you advice, which you don't seem to want to listen to. If you want to continue worrying, go for it...but don't cause others to worry unnecessarily.

OP,

Someone mentioned in an earlier response that you actually have an immigration attorney, is this correct?

I ask, because I also had an Immigration Attorney with me through my whole visa process. One of the reasons me and my husband decided to go down this route was because of my severe anxiety levels and panic attacks. I had the BEST attorney ever. He knew from the offset I had anxiety. I actually emailed him whenever I had a concern or question, no matter how big or small. I was paying him therefore it was his job to answer everything on my mind. Even at midnight when I would be sat up having a million fears whizzing around my head I would shoot him off an email and BAM... 10 minutes later he responded LOL!!!. He was one of the better Lawyers. I was lucky.

What does your immigration attorney advise you on your current worry? I would use your Lawyer as a tool to try and minimize your stress and anxiety. You are PAYING him/her to give you up to date advice, facts and support.
