Cornflake reacted to Loren Y in Delay of Green Card Interview Results
Hopefully you hear something soon. My friend and his wife did their AOS interview a few days before me in February 2020 at the San Francisco uscis office. Interview went well, and to this date, almost a year now his wife still hasn't received her green card. He has tried communicating with the USCIS office and everything and all they say is wait. My wife and I did our AOS interview on February 4th of 2020, and had her green card a week later to the day in the mailbox. There is no rhyme or reason for how USCIS operates. Hopefully you hear something soon. You should get notifications via email or case status that new card is being produced. Then you know it's on the way. I got the text and email about 2 hours after we left the USCIS office after our interview.

Good luck with your card showing up soon.

Hello!  I filed for AOS from L1 (so not a K1 visa) in NYC in December 2019 and had my interview today (scheduled on Nov 30th) and wanted to share as it was a little strange and hadn't seen similar cases when frantically reading through forums over the past few weeks....

Arrived at 7:45am for an 8am appointment, got called in at around 9:30am.  Officer was basically completely silent and just clicking through things on his computer.  He did not ask us to do oath...He asked us for passports, marriage certificate, and birth certificate but basically did not look at them at all.  Then asked for photo albums - we had brought three, along with a printed out "timeline" with photos from over the course of our ~6 year relationship with explanations of dates, people included, etc.  He looked through the albums in depth, asked us a question about where one photo was taken, and just quickly flipped through timeline.  He then asked us each in turn where we work and what we do, asked me (petitioner) my address, when I had last entered the country (had left and come back again since I filed, so showed him my new I94), and for our latest tax docs.  He then asked me a couple of yes/no questions (if I had been in military, if I had criminal conviction) and asked me to sign what I think was the I-485.  Then we we were good to go - no questions about our relationship, did not keep any of the documents except our 2019 tax return, and said we would hear back in the mail.  VERY silent and VERY short - not quite what I was expecting based on what I had read / a conversation with a lawyer.  Hoping to hear back about decision soon as I know I will be sleeping poorly until then - but happy to get this out of the way and feeling very lucky my wait for interview was quite reasonable....!

The thing is, photos do not prove that the meeting was in the last two years. That’s the key point. Boarding passes, passport stamps, ATM transactions or credit card statements showing usage in her home town, for example, are better as they are date stamped. Unless the photo has something substantial with the date on it in the photo (for example a photo of you in front of the Eiffel Tower on New Year’ Eve with the year spelled out in lights on the tower) it is hard to know when it was taken.

Expedite is way different from renewal. You mix up the terms. There's no need for an expedite for a renewal. You can apply 180 days before the end of your card and get an automatic 180 day extension starting the day after your card runs out. That makes 360 days for USCIS to process. Way enough for EAD renewal.

You would also have to ask for an expedite after you sent your initial application. It's a different process.

I think the IO knows phones aren't allowed, they never asked about our phones. If you have any photos you want to show, bring hard copies. When we went for our AOS interview I took a messenger style bag with paperwork and some photos. They took some paperwork I had to add to the other stuff I sent with the application, but they seem to have a good idea of if you are approved before you get there. We had a nice IO, and it went really smooth. Maybe 30 minutes total and most of that was taking a photo and fingerprints for the green card. Maybe 20 minutes of actual questions.

Im not panicking, but i got to the stage where im not thinking 100% clearly so any help would be welcome.

    What we have -

    interview letter

finances - utility bill in both names, mobile phone bill jointly, pet vaccination record with both names listed as pets owner, basic cover / account page of health insurance coverage, joint auto insurance policy, joint bank accounts going over 12 months but only printed since last Jan, May, Sept and current to save paper. Joint lease, spouses pay stubs, joint tax return.

certififcates etc - birth cert (both), marriage cert, copy of 3025 (they have original via K1 process), police cert, i-94 print out

bonafides - photos spanning our relationship with friends and family, we dont have any recent pics outside our wedding as we genuinely havent done anything or seen anyone to take a photo with due to covid. Print out of chat logs that we use to communicate with on the daily basis, general xmas cards to us jointly from family

Is there anything obvious missing or need more evidence, i feel like its enough, but i just wanted some reassurance that we have all we need.

    thanks in advance !

Happy new year everyone just checking back in here with my fellow February applicants. I have been waiting to schedule our interview since Apr 13th. Lets hope that year 2021 brings some good fortune to us and we can obtain our Green Cards and a vaccine shot so we might be able to begin to live a normal life soon 🙂.

Haha.  Stiff like that is fine.  Maybe try and practice some questions with each other?  When we went for my wife's interview, he went over the 485 application with my wife, then he basically asked me 2 questions, and my wife 2 questions.  Like I said, confidence is key!
Well I sure hope you corrected him after, haha 😆

    UPDATE:

Thanks johnnyl129f, who seemed to know to congratulate me beforehand.

I submitted an e-request https://egov.uscis.gov/e-request/Intro.do using "Did not receive by mail". I received an update saying that "Notice was returned to USCIS because post office could not deliver it". Tier 1 advised me to call Tier 2 to receive a fax or email, similar to what others have posted.

However, strangely enough, the SLC Field Office called me and asked whether we had received the interview notice. This was Wednesday, November 27. When I replied no, the person who called said she would email us a copy. Our interview date would be 6 days later, Tuesday, December 3.

    Conclusion:
We interviewed yesterday and were approved.

    What I might've done differently:
I probably would've called Tier 2 sooner. Turns out that they didn't change the address to what I wrote in the "Change of Address" form. Also, Tier 1 kept telling me that the letter had not been sent when it had. I don't know if you can directly call the field office, but since they reached out to me (probably because of a Tier 1 notifying them), that might've been a possibility to explore.

Since I was in “Ready to be Scheduled” (late February), I have gotten:
    - an EAD combo card
    - a Florida Driver’s license
    - a SSN
    - a stimulus check
    - a Job
    - a Virginia Driver’s license
    - 2 US bank accounts
    - 2 US credit cards

Also I’ve submitted an EAD renewal and will most likely get another stimulus check.

What a ride! And yesterday, Dec 28th,  finally I got my interview scheduled, date TBD.

It took this long because we moved to Virginia and my case was sent (theoretically) from Jacksonville, FL to Washington, DC office. Still I wasn’t expecting this for another 4-5 months based on DC’s very long timelines.

Best wishes to all January filers.
