Santa Ana CA Field Office 2020

Hi all

We couldn't find any recent AOS discussion from the Santa Ana field office, so, rather than resurrect an old topic, we thought we would make a new one where members can commiserate, pool information etc. I hope this is okay.

As you can see from our timeline, we filed in November 2019. Status changed to 'case is ready to be scheduled for an interview' in January 2020. We've heard nothing further in respect of the I-485 since then. Combo card was received at the end of February 2020.

There's a thread over on Reddit that suggests there's been no interviews at the Santa Ana FO since March 2020, but the timelines here on VJ would suggest there's been at least one since then (which was yesterday - 6th August 2020). No reports of any interview waivers that we can find.

Anyway, fellow Santa Ana filers, please feel free to post here with updates, information, vents or whatever. We'll post whatever updates we have.

Finally, just wanted to give a big thanks to all the people who contribute here. This place has been an immensely valuable resource for us, as we're sure it has been to many other former lurkers.

Stay safe and stay well everyone in these very difficult times.

@Hphelp - Sorry to hear your interview was cancelled. That's bad luck. Do I understand correctly that you filed in September 2019 and your interview was scheduled in April 2020? If so, that seems pretty fast for Santa Ana. From what I can gather from the reported timelines here on VJ, the average (pre-Covid) wait time for interview seems to be in the region of 10 months. Would be very grateful if you could update here when your interview is rescheduled, since it looks like we're (theoretically) around 2 months behind you.

@lunareclipse - Sorry to hear that. The field office is apparently open, but there doesn't seem to be a great deal happening over there. Perhaps they're focusing on naturalisation. There has been at least one GC interview since March 2020 there on 6th August 2020. Seems they were approved on the day. You can check the timelines for Santa Ana here - https://www.visajourney.com/timeline/aoslist.php?vtype=0&op8=Santa+Ana+CA&interview=&xfr=&op1=d&op2=&op3=&op4=1&op5=&cfl=0

Please keep us posted and any other Santa Ana filers, please do feel free to join the discussion. The more information we have, the more clarity there will be around what's happening there.

Hi BellaUnion,

Adding another datapoint. There is one person on reddit who said their interview was rescheduled for 8/24, originally for 3/19. He was notified by phone 2 weeks ahead of interview.

@lunareclipse Thanks for the DP. Good to know. Hopefully that means some good news for you soon since your original interview wasn't too far after that one. Fingers crossed for you.

We're going to start work on the paperwork for my combo card renewal this week, since it's approaching the 6 month mark. Who knows what will happen with this potential furlough looming.

Any other Santa Ana FO lurkers out there, don't be shy. Please join us and share your info.

Any updates for you all?

Nothing here unfortunately. I guess you're still waiting to be rescheduled? Must be very frustrating.

I did notice another successful interview at SA in the VJ timelines, on 18th August 2020. So, a grand total of 2 interviews reported here since March 2020. Not sure how much of a representative sample that is, but it doesn't seem very encouraging.

Still waiting as well :(

Sorry to hear that. You would think they would at least be rescheduling cancelled interviews by now.

Hang in there and keep us updated.

Hi guys, my FO is also Santa Ana office PD Sept 2019.

Thanks for this. Would appreciate if you could keep us updated on your status here as well if you have a free moment.

Did you have an interview scheduled/cancelled or are you still waiting on an initial interview?
