portorusa reacted to JFH in Divorced him / her
I think you need to change your circle of friends. Previously a friend told you the K-1 no longer existed and only spousal visas were possible. Now a friend is telling you that divorcees cannot petition their fiancées.
Unless you heard it from USCIS or read it on the official USCIS website, it’s not true.

It’s pretty much useless to call. NVC gives you the standard answer, that “once we get available dates from the Embassy, we fill the slots with the DQ’d cases, and issue IL’s immediately, just be patient “.

portorusa reacted to USS_Voyager in Visa DENIED within Seconds?????
Uhm, If strangers from an online forum board can detect it within seconds. What do you think a highly trained US Foreign Services employee such as the Consular Officer, who is stationed in Brazil and seen hundreds of these applications every days and interviewed hundreds of people, not be able to detect that?
A young woman travels alone to the US to visit Disney ? Really?

Thank you and congratulations on the visa! How soon do you expect your husband to arrive in the US?
Mr&MrsT, I wish you to get your DQ very soon!🤝

A million dollar question 😞
My husband was DQ’d on 10/1. It’s been more than 5 weeks, and not a peep from NVC about the interview date. While others here on VJ and also from France who were DQ’d after us, already had their IL’s and even their interviews done.
Paris Embassy is not that busy (comparing to Montreal, for example, or Santo Domingo). So how NVC chooses cases to be awarded with IL and by what criteria, is a mystery.
I called NVC to ask Why, but it was useless. They give a standard answer, “It depends on the available dates we receive from the embassy, and then we fill the available slots. Be patient”.

The key word is “approved” . After VAWA is approved you can remarry with no negative consequences to your VAWA status. You get your green card through VAWA, it means you can get naturalized 3 years from the GC date. Your new marriage has nothing to do with it.

Respectfully disagree. We have couples with big age gaps here, happily married for years. We also have couples of same age that are not couples anymore. Only time will tell who is there for a long haul.
