    Hello ppl

As a pleasant surprise, last month we got the interview, all went smoothly and residency was approved. About 10 days later the green card arrived by mail. Questions well reasonable. Be advised that your fiance should be aware of the place names in the photos.

Do we have to wait up until the 90 day period to file the petition to remove conditions?

AOS NOA1 arrived in April 13.  In it stated that the biometric appointment is on the 25th.  For some reason I don't the AOS NOA1 came wayyyy later.  At least the petition was not denied outright.  Lets see if any RFPs come in our way.

Hey guys, I did my fingerprints on April 22nd and today my case was updated to interview is ready to be scheduled.

If I'm not wrong this is the last stage until we get the interview appointment letter (which is the longest stage)

Yeah but I'd much rather live in NYC and wait than live in Columbus OH and get a green card quickly haha. The grass is greener on the other side. I love NYC.

My AP NOA came later. I got a status update to say document mailed to me for AP then about a week later the NOA came. They had attempted to mail but they missed off the Apt number so it got returned then they resent it.

There is no date that you "should" hear back about the I-129F petition (not the K-1 visa...you haven't done anything with that yet). Some people may hear back months earlier than average and others months later than average.

There are cases in normal processing timeframes and those outside normal processing timeframes. As far as USCIS is concerned, yours is still in normal processing timeframes still.
Statistically, you'll probably hear back in the coming weeks. But nothing is guaranteed either.
If your case goes outside normal processing timeframes, you can request a case inquiry.

Since the landlord already said that he wont give because a person doesn't have SSN, means landlord is in xxxxxxxx if you decide to report it.

If he had just said that we are unable to rent it to you, it would have been fine.

The purpose of the SSN is to do a BC / credit run, since he just came here, he is not going to have it, but that shouldn't be a thorn.

    You could:
    1. Submit the i-94 as proof
    2. submit an ITIN number instead of SSN

It finally happened! I got the txts a little after midnight for AOS, AP and EAD and the $1225 came out today. It seems like several people who had their packets delivered around the 11th had really long waits.
When I looked up the tracking numbers I noticed something I think is a little weird though.
For AP and EAD it says they were received on March 11th but for the AOS it says it was received on March 29th? Is this normal? I thought they would be around the same time. Was AP and EAD really processed on March 11th or were they in limbo until the I-485 was processed?

I made a copy of our marriage certificate and my wife's NOA1. She keeps that with her passport when we travel. Now that she has her EAD/AP card, it's probably unnecessary to travel with that much paperwork but it certainly can't hurt if you're ever questioned by inland CBP officers.

K1  means marriage in the US
person needs the criminal reports for both India and Canada for the interview
if you k1 and marry here  it would be quite a few months for documnets to go back to India and marry there too
K1 is quite a bit more expensive than CR1

this immigratio process is not fast
    it is not easy
    and it is not cheap
and last time it took 6 months for a K1 was like 2009

Right now, the wait time for K1 visa is 6-8 months (according to the USCIS website). If you think you have enough time, then go for it. But also it’s important to be conscious of the ceremony, even if it is just religious. Someone posted in the forum a couple months ago that they were denied because the person who interviewed them said they seemed “too married” already. Meaning they were denied on suspicion of already being married just because they had a formal engagement party (formal outfits, lots of guests, a celebration, etc.).

So really, it’s up to you, if you think it’ll be done in time. There’s another thread right now about getting married while waiting for the k1 visa to be approved. That might be helpful. You really have to strict with the rules because any little thing can cause a denial. So even just a religious ceremony and not a legal one will probably cause issues. I’m not 100% sure on this, but it’s just some things to think about.

Lbto&Lbta reacted to Paul & Mallory in Doubts about the ways I have and which one is best, to get married in America and stay there.
My biggest piece of advice to you right now, based on your commentary - I strongly implore both you and your partner to get to researching. A LOT. Immigration is not easy and it's not meant to be - it's a privilege, not a right, and if it were so easy (just get married and move right on over), then there would be a heck of a lot more fraud than we already have as it is. There's processes in place for a reason. No, they aren't always fun, but it's the price you pay. Everyone who has completed the same process you're asking about has been in your shoes before at some point. That isn't to negate your impending frustrations - just to remind you that you aren't being "punished" and you are not alone. But if you are truly in love and want to spend the rest of your life with someone, then these paths are ALWAYS worth it in the end. And the separation is temporary. I would remind myself daily, during my time apart from my husband - it's either be apart now, temporarily, or be apart forever because we don't do what we have to in order to live the life together that we want. A very easy no-brainer, in my opinion.

Again - RESEARCH RESEARCH RESEARCH. Be sure you are BOTH well versed on all of the available options, and even more well versed on the option you wind up taking. From beginning to END. Make sure you know what you are in for, from start to finish, and be as prepared as possible for each step as it comes.

    Good luck.

In a lame attempt to piggyback on @Greenbaum's words of wisdom, DO NOT freak out to the point of hospitalization with a panic attack when you start reading about NOA2s from people who filed days/weeks and even a month or two after you start rolling in. There's a method to USCIS madness: there's no method!

As previously stated, set your expectations low, set it and forget it, expect your NOA2 for the end of the current waiting period. Use the next few months to educate further in the K1 process, research embassy requirements of your beneficiaries' countries, gather what paperwork you'll need for embassy stage: tax transcript, updated letters of intent, screen shots of whatever form of communication used (2 screenshots per month...people differ in opinions in this...do what's best for you), but most importantly, nurture your relationship.

    Best wishes,

    Catherine.

Whoooa. Your not even into this for 2 weeks and your annoyed?? A word of encouragement from an old VJ sea dog. Set your expectation lower and you won't be so annoyed. I have seen it over and over how soon people are annoyed, disappointed, anxious and what not. This is a long process. It could take a year before you get your visa and 2 weeks in your annoyed. Come on. Relax. Don't be on VJ until such time as your USCIS application is approved. Then come back for tips and pointers. That's what years of being here that I can offer.

For those who have just filed your I-129f application with USCIS, this thread has been created for your needs and to be with others experiencing different aspects of this journey. This is a place to ask questions and to share experiences. All are here to learn together. Good luck because this is a long process currently running 5-6 months from filing date for your NOA2 approval.
