I sent two money orders one for $500 and one $180 since they limit them to $500. As long as USCIS gets the correct amount you're fine.

Send a check for $680, and the exact same packet - just put a note on the top saying that you have corrected the payment and you are resubmitting the packet.

    Good luck!

MarkandCharity reacted to K1visaHopeful in SSN Application Question...
The document that you are trying to print is simply the SSA policy manual that lists all Visa categories and whether or not they have permission to work. As a K1 you cannot work without an approved EAD but SSA still must issue a SSN because as a K1 you are allowed to apply for a temporary EAD within your first 90days.
Most SSA agents will have this document you are trying to print sitting on their desk so they can refer to it to determine whether your Visa Category has permission to work BUT you can print it and bring it along as backup.
Just print the entire webpage. I found it by simply inputting the "RM yadda yadda" into my Google search bar. You can find the K1 entry a few pages in if you want to dog ear the page for easy reference.

He just needs to take his passport with K1 visa and I-94 stamp in it. I also took my birth certificate and a print from the most recent I-94 online, just because some SSO's ask for it (mine didn't) Once he's in the office he has to fill out the SS-5 form (they have a stack of those in every SSN office) and wait for his turn. That's it.

Y'all I am so excited but so nervous! He drives to Montreal on Monday and will have his medical on Tuesday. Then flying here (it's cheaper than him staying in a hotel for a week in Montreal) to spend Thanksgiving with me, my children and my family. Then next Monday we fly to Montreal together for the interview. I can't believe we are finally at this point. It has been such a long wait. I'm grateful for this sight because everyone has been so helpful!  Prayers and good vibes sent our way please that the interview goes good.

Sooo funny! When I have hot tea here I always say that and Mark always laughs and says just say tea. It’s a joke we always do and his family makes fun of me too. Just like for a long time he would tell me he was eating BBQ every night and I was thought that was a lot of BBQ until he explained that his BBQ is just what I called Grilled Hamburgers and hotdogs or chicken. Not actual pulled pork or brisket BBQ. I love all the little differences.

Yes.  The next petition will not be impacted by their first denial.  The issue they have right now is the wait.  We all know that feeling.  Personally I would recommend the CR-1.  If they are still trying to figure out if they want to file again getting married won't save the real issue.

I try not to be too blunt but when we were denied we were both VERY upset.  It was a terrible day and that feeling will hurt us forever.  That being said, there was never even a nanosecond when we considered not filing again.  Not even a single thought about not being together.  We were mad and hurt and very upset but we just moved forward.  We considered the K-1 or CR-1 and being married and waiting was a no brainer once we thought about it.  If this one gets denied I will move there.  This will never keep us apart.  It concerns me when a small bump in the road causes these questions.  This is not an easy process.  I pray that they look deep into themselves and make the decision that truly right for themselves.

You actually email the Montreal consulate the a scan of your checklist, the confirmation page of the DS160 which shows your information and your photo that you uploaded, and a copy of your passport. Then you wait for packet 4 which will be saying you're ready to schedule the interview. If you're going to the interview then don't bother mailing your fiancé all the documents. Make sure your "two recent photographs" are passport-style photos, and the proof of domicile can be your lease or other bills that come to your address. They're not too concerned about proof of domicile unless the US sponsor has been living outside the US for a while. Good luck! Don't forget the search box at the top of the visajourney page is your friend. If you have a question, chances are many people before you have too.

Read the instructions you received. You do not mail the documents, you bring them to the interview. You mail the checklist, DS160 barcode, plus copy of passport.
I864 is for AOS, for the K1 you need the I134.

    Heya!

My husband flew from the UK, so the situation is a bit different. If he drives across the border, I can't see why they wouldn't let him through with his belongings, provided he has the visa and follows the laws.

A quick Google search gave me this:

    https://mypathtocitizenship.com/k1-port-of-entry-process-what-expect-us-first-time/

It sounds like the procedure is the same at every Port of Entry, they take you aside, the Border Patrol agent goes through your documents and asks some simple questions, then lets you in.

If he has a K-1 visa, it shouldn't be an issue either way.
If he tries to come bring his stuff via land without a visa or without one that permits immigrant intent, that's another issue entirely.

With a K1 you would be expected to bring as much as you can.

I asked the border guard this question on Thursday when I crossed over peace bridge. He said I can bring all my personal belongings. I specifically asked because it's all tools and equipment but he said all is good.

Of course he will be able to bring all his stuff. He will be here for quite a while before he’s able to go back for even a visit.

MarkandCharity reacted to NikLR in When coming into the US...
He should either drive down with all of his things or use a moving company.  Since it will be about 6 months before he can travel out of the USA or work, it would probably be best.  Granted he does have 10 years to move his things.

Cars are normally people's biggest issues.  You have a year to import a car that meets US safety standards and is completely owned (aka no lien.)

MarkandCharity reacted to Limey in When coming into the US...
When I moved from the UK I shipped most of my things, but I still brought a fair amount in my baggage. As a non green card holder at that time, I had to fill in the customs card and it asked if I was bringing things worth over $100 (I think, memory is a little patchy) that would remain in the USA after my visit. I asked the customs officer what to put here, as I would be staying in the US so everything would be staying in the US. He said just ignore it, that it didn't apply to me as I was moving permanently.

I had no problems with customs or entry to the US on my K1.

For my things that shipped, I'd already filled in a lot of forms that my shipping company sent me, with details of my visa etc. This made it through customs fine with no charges to pay other than the standard charges I'd pre-paid with my shipping company for inspections etc.

If you are driving in from Canada I imagine its much easier. I'm not sure if they'd ask for a list of items that are being brought into the country (I had to itemize everything for the shipping, but not when I brought items in myself in my luggage).
