I went in yesterday (Friday) afternoon. The place was nearly empty, didn't ask any questions on why I was early and I didn't have to wait at all - was in and out in 7 minutes. Thanks.

Glad I missed that form, looks like a pain to fill out. I do like the part that I can include all my illegal income from drug dealing, prostitution, and other illegal activities so I can meet the Financial requirement. LOL never ceases to amaze me how they put together these forms....

Item Numbers 7. and 8. Identify whether any of the additional income comes from an illegal activity or source such as
proceeds from illegal gambling or illegal drug sales or other activities and identify the amount.

I mean really, what do you put there. Sold two keys of columbian pure last month for 30,000 dollars of income. Looks like I'm above the poverty level now....

    Hi everyone,

I'm pleased to inform you all that hubby has gotten his greencard. We went for the interview a week ago and...viola...the card has landed in our mailbox.

The interview was pretty fast. The officer just read out some questions in the i485 form for my hubby to respond to. He also asked some questions pertaining to dates.

After the interview, the egov casetracker changed multiple times. I will list all the status we saw on the casetracker after we had the interview:

    1. New Card Is Being Produced
    2. Case Was Approved
    3. Card Was Mailed To Me
    4. Card Was Picked Up By The United States Postal Service
    5. Card Was Delivered To Be By The Post Office.

So in summary, it took us 8 months after filing for greencard to get it. And it took us 5 months to get the work permit and travel authorization.

I actually thought it will take more than one year for our case to be adjudicated by the USCIS Dallas Field Office. I'm glad it took less than that.

So for all Texas Filers, be hopeful. You'll get your interview soon enough.

    Cheers.

Looks like yours took around 9 to 10 months. Unfortunate that Dallas is so slow unfortunate for us that is. I don't understand why because there are other even larger cites that are faster than Dallas way faster. It also looks like if your interview takes a long while then also your EAD/AP takes awhile too. Yours took in excess of 160 days according to your time line. I'm at 130 days at this point. The VJ estimates don't do us any justice at least not me. It did not estimate correctly for the K1 and it's following suit with the AP/EAD. Nothing really to do but deal with it! Another reason to have wished I had of filed the spousal, but our situation made it not an option at the time.

    Hey there,

Your question comes up a lot and I've noticed that it's also one of many highly contested topic.

So here is my 2 cents.

I try to objectively provide the best information/opinion I can based on "my" experiences without discounting other's opinions. The problem is, there's select few people on here that can't have a healthy discussion without interjecting their thoughts as gospel. They obviously enjoy arguing with you if your opinion differs from theirs and more often than not become aggressive.

Take a look at a thread on this very topic that I responded to and decide for yourself whether or not you feel it's necessary to go through another medical.

I want to stress that what I say is by no means the correct and only way to go about it. It is by far the most conservative route and would help minimize any potential hiccups that could further delay one's case but it's up to each person to take all options and decide what's best for them in their given situation and what risks they are willing to take.

Hope this helps and if you have any specific questions I'll be more than happy to help.

    Good luck!

    Hello all,

Filed for AOS/AP/EAD 4/21/19. On 12/11/19, got our notice of interview scheduled for 1/15/20 in Dallas. We were approved! Interviewer was super nice and professional. She verified the personal info on the 485, then asked all of the yes/no questions. She looked at our pictures and asked me to pick 5 for her to keep, and said "it's already approved, but if you want, you can give proofs of relationship". We gave copies of joint car/health insurance, and copies of my 401k showing my husband as beneficiary. Two hours later, case status changed to "we've ordered your new card". We had made copies of his passport, SS card, driver's license, and EAD/AP, and she seemed to really appreciate that. It honestly was a very pleasant experience!

I went to the post office Wednesday afternoon in Las Vegas to mail my (OK, my wife's)  I-485 AoS package.  The options were Priority Mail for about $7, which would take 2-3 days, or Priority Mail Express for $25.50, with a money back guarantee to arrive by noon the next day.

I figured I've spent so much already on this process that I might as well plunk down my credit card and pay $25.50 for the next day service.  But I wasn't happy about it.

Went online with the tracking number and set up email and text message notifications, because I'm neurotic.

I was alerted yesterday that the package arrived at the P.O. Box in Chicago at 12:39 p.m. local time.

Did I go back to the post office today to claim my $25.50 refund because the package didn't arrive by noon? I did.

And she handed me back cash, which felt even sweeter.

From everything I just read from your past posts, your husband just doesn't care. Every few post, you will say that. He doesn't care. He's reluctant to do anything to do with paperwork. He wasn't truthful about how much he makes. He didn't want to help you get SSN before your wedding. Etc.

The thing is, for this whole process to work (immigration, your marriage!), you need him to care. This is mostly his job (or teamwork at the very least), to file for all this paperwork and make sure everything is in order and all requirements are met, but you're doing it all by yourself.

I think your bigger problem isn't the paperwork or USCIS, but who you married.

    5-6 years 😳 wow...

My husbands daughter (21) came to Aus and lived here for a year on a work visa, she and my 17 yr old girl were like cat and dog, hated each other with passion... seriously talk about 24/7 pms nightmare... throwing things, braking stuff, slamming doors, yelling 🙉

after 6 months and going crazy, my husband and I started arguing because of the many many disproportionate tails... so, I took them the local boxing club, threw some gloves at them and said call me when the problems solved, because I be damned if I have brats who can’t get along cause me to argue with my hubby.... 3 hours and 1 black eye later..... All’s good, problem solved...

We used the car insurance, the envelope that his SS card arrived in, and the envelope that the NOA1 arrived in. Since those are sent by government agencies, they are accepted, (for Texas) and they are post marked with the date they were mailed. These showed residency for the last 90 days.

Phew! Received texts today saying they had received all my documents and I now have the case numbers for my i485 and my i765. Weirdly, they say they received the i765 on April 19th, but they received the i485 on May 6th, but they were sent together! Weird, but I can understand why the change of status takes a little longer. And relax!
