  6. Nope. You may or may not get a combo interview. Some of us have submitted request letters, but there is no requirement to do so. In my case, we did undergo a combo interview after requesting one during the N-400 application process. You could upload a letter if you wish.
  7. Very, very vague source for that refusal rate. I think those numbers are unreliable. Bottom line is that there is a history of VJ shows that more time together is better than less time together.
  8. In my area, DPS appoints are always are booked months out. They do open appointments on a daily basis at about 8:00 to fill any openings for that day..

  10. I have read that you can try to submit a notarized affidavit, but I have my doubts. Perhaps a divorce attorney could help find the official vital record. You can also get some info by Google search "How To Get a Copy of a Divorce Decree".
  11. Just don't pay the NVC fees or submit documents. You can delay the case indefinitely at NVC by contacting them at least once a year.
  12. For accuracy, the visa will expire 6 months after the medical exam...or even sooner. Expiration date is not based on visa issue date or interview date.
  13. How do you know what the approval rates are for K-1 visas? I know of no stats regarding number of denied K-1 visas. I know that in FY 2023, Tunisia "B" visas had a 26% refusal rate. I also know that in January 2024, 11 K-1 visas were issued in Tunis. I don't know how many K-1s were denied.
  14. The consulate would send the case back to USCIS where it would expire. No route to appeal.
  15. Yes. That is her Social Security number for life. File away!!!
  16. If you checked the box on either the I-485 or I-765 for a SSN, then the Social Security Agency is notified, and they issue a card. Any RFIE for the I-485 such as an I-864 problem will pause the EAD until the RFIE has been satisfied. It would have no effect on the Social Security card delivery since it cannot be used for work without the EAD being issued.

  18. I let it go to 0:00 for popcorn...only because I have found that getting the perfect popping time is by pressing the popcorn button followed by two presses of the "add 30 seconds" button.
  19. Tulsi is the perfect Trump running mate, imo. Who you got??
  20. Her address can be changed on the DS-260 at NVC. NVC can then route the case to the consulate of her residence. After you have the case number from NVC, you can contact them to ensure proper routing.
  21. Don't do it. There are multiple cases here on VJ which were denied for trying to obtain a K-1 after a traditional marriage. You would be wise to marry, then start the spousal visa process. As stated above, the processing times are not much different, while the CR-1 is far superior. K-1 More expensive than CR-1 Requires Adjustment of Status after marriage (expensive and requires a lot of paperwork) Spouse can not leave the US until she/he receives approved Advance Parole (approx 3-6 months) Spouse can not work until she/he receives EAD (approx 3-6 months) Some people have had problems with driver licenses, Social Security cards, leases, bank account during this period Spouse will not receive Green Card for many months after Adjustment of Status is filed. A K-1 might be a better choice when 18-21 year old children are immigrating also In some situations, marriage can affect certain Home country benefits, making a K-1 a better choice A denied K-1 is sent back to USCIS to expire K-1 entrant cannot file for citizenship until after having Green Card for 3 years. Once an I-129F has been approved, delaying the case is difficult to impossible if the need arises. CR-1/IR-1 Less expensive than K-1 No Adjustment of Status(I-485, I-131, I-765) required. Spouse can immediately travel outside the US Spouse is authorized to work immediately upon arrival. Spouse receives Social Security Card and Green Card within 2 or 3 weeks after entering the US Opening a bank account, getting a driver's license, etc. are very easily accomplished with GC, SS card, and passport. Spouse has legal permanent Resident status IMMEDIATELY upon entry to US. The clock for citizenship filing starts immediately upon entry to the US. A CR-1/IR-1 case can be delayed indefinitely at NVC if the need arises.
  22. Every couple has their own priorities, and each couple must decide which visa is better for their situation.
