That lawyer sounds very cynical. Presumably there are sound public policy grounds for preventing convicted sex offenders from trafficking vulnerable people, usually women from the third world who don't speak good English. I can understand why it is difficult to get a waiver. Most members of the public, regardless of their political or ethical views, would probably support that.

I agree that the children should have had a chance to meet and get to know each other even before there was any talk about marriage and visas. And I don't think it would be helpful for your fiancée and her children to live at a temporary place before moving in with you. They are having to leave their home to travel to a country they don't know; the least you can do is provide them a place to call home instead of a temporary place. Putting them in a temporary house will make them feel like you are not sure yet if you are going to accept them as your stepchildren. If your house is big enough to accommodate the whole family, start working with your children on making it a home for their stepsiblings. This will also help the children to get to know each other better, finding out their interests.

I moved here with my then 13yr old son to live with my USC husband and his 2 kids. We started seeing each other, long distance, in 2011. Before we got married in 2014 we had introduced the kids to each other, spent vacations together, planned the future with them, it wasn't until 2016 were we able to move here and live together. I certainly wouldn't have moved here let alone got married unless I knew the kids, all 3 of them, were well acquainted and I knew the parenting style of my hubby.

Can't be done without misrepresentation.  That would be an unwise choice.   This sounds like they plan to lie to immigration.  That is not condoned or tolerated here.  That would be a violation of the terms of service for Visa Journey.

The only issue with Dublin is that is if the Airline deny at check in you don't physically get near CBP as that is airside. I'd check with Dublin to see if they would let you through to CBP first before booking a flight.

Last time I am going to say this and then I am out of this thread: HR can not  legally require you produce a green card or evidence that you will get a green card.

You need to start telling HR what you will do and versus letting them tell you what to do.  They have no control here.  They might imagine they have control.

Every day they delay your employment is going to cost them money.

I found it useful to download an app for the citizenship questions and took a test every day, any questions I got stuck on or knew I didn't know I wrote down. Writing them down aided my memory. I'll remember the answers to all 100 questions for the rest of my life

Everywhere “permits” green card holders to go in, but you will still likely need a visa.

Everything is subjective and perception but there are beautiful welcoming  countries within Africa and the Caribbean that she may be able to travel to. You saying those destinations are “pretty bad”…well, you almost sound like the folks you say are perceiving your wife poorly because she is African. This is coming from an African…
