He has a son with the first wife. I’m thinking it wasn’t all a scam…

One thing that will be different is the amount you need to sponsor your future wife and stepson… @perritonegro did your ex become a citizen? Is your son still a dependent on your taxes?

I'm not seeing him mentioning his biological children in his post?

Previous post from 2017…

Hmmm

There is also mention of an interview in Poland in the past, so Poland, Ukraine, PI, possibly US and now Brazil.

Possible but this was before the war so why?

Oy I don’t know thought many interviewed in Poland because of the short queue but I’m not an expert for sure 😅

She interviewed early 2000s (2004?) immigration was a whole other landscape. Maybe you could choose the fastest consulate, move there and interview? DCF was also pretty common…

Greetings community!  I have not posted in many years, so I'm glad to see that this forum is still here.  Many things have changed for me.  Namely, after my marriage ended (very quickly, and badly) in divorce, I thought I'd be single the rest of my life.  UNTIL... I met an amazing woman in Brazil.  She is everything I've prayed for for 35 years, and so much more.  I'm going to meet her and her son in person in August.  We're planning to do a virtual wedding through Utah County (https://www.utahcounty.gov/dept/clerk/marriage/faq.html) BEFORE my scheduled trip to Brazil, then file for a CR1 visa.  Therein lies my question.  Many things have changed regarding the visa selection and process, since I married the shill from Ukraine.

1) is CR1 our best option?  Her son is 8.  She is a widow

2) I'm in Washington State.  Which US embassy is moving fastest?  I ask this because we have a timeline that we're dealing with, and we need them to be here before the end of the year...  Nothing criminal, just some personal reasons.

3)  Any HELPFUL advice is welcome.

4) I am a US Citizen

5) This will be my 2nd marriage to an overseas woman

6) I've heard that they have done away with interviews. Can this be confirmed?

“Need them to be here by the end of the year”?  It will take at least two years, unfortunately.

Done away with interviews for immigrant visas…..?    Whoever told you that also has some waterfront property in Arizona for ya 😉

Definitely the petitioner's needs in terms of timing are irrelevant to the process.

There are headlines about waiving interviews, but most don't read carefully enough to see that it is for SOME non-immigrant visa categories.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...

1) is CR1 our best option?  Her son is 8.  She is a widow- File two I-130s. One for her and one for her son.

2) I'm in Washington State.  Which US embassy is moving fastest?  I ask this because we have a timeline that we're dealing with, and we need them to be here before the end of the year...  Nothing criminal, just some personal reasons.- Where you live has no bearing on the process. If she is a Brazilian she and her son will have to interview in Brazil unless they have residency (citizenship) in another country.

3)  Any HELPFUL advice is welcome. - The two I-130s will be treated separately. Make sure you upload ALL the relevant documents to each  account. So, marriage certificate should be uploaded to each account. When it comes to NVC proof of any divorces should be uploaded to both accounts. One case might reach NVC a few months before the other. DO NOT submit documentation for one before the other "catches up" (is approved). You don't want the son/mother to receive their visa months before the other. Then send a letter to NVC requesting they schedule the interviews together (on the same day).

4) I am a US Citizen - There is no limit to the number of visas issues for immediate relatives of USCs. So, this is excellent news. Your case will be processed quicker than an LPR's.

5) This will be my 2nd marriage to an overseas woman- Most people say this will not be an issue. Others will say expect more scrutiny. Depending on how the previous marriage ended and other factors in the current relationship.

6) I've heard that they have done away with interviews. Can this be confirmed?- This is not true for immigrant visas at the embassy. But, as the son will most likely still be under 14 when he interviews- the interview won't be as time consuming. But, he will have to go to the embassy.

I think you have received a lot of good information, to the point of your timeline for her to be able to come to the US with the visa, you are looking at least 2 years before that happens.  It will take at least one year for USCIS to review your application for the Marriage Visa and then if they approve your application, it will go to the State Department and once you satisfy all their requirements, wait for an interview at the US Embassy in Brazil.  If you were to submit your application in July 2023, you are looking at July 2025 to possibly have her come to the US.

It is to some degree anybody's guess, none of us are prescient, mine would be 18 months.
