Strongly suggest you hot the Exchange and get yourself sorted out.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

I'm very sorry to hear about your diagnosis. It it were me, seeing how expensive healthcare is here in the U.S, I would go back to the Netherlands and take advantage of universal healthcare. I know you would be abandoning you AOS but you can take care of all the the immigration stuff after your treatment.

But that's just me. I wish you the best of luck...

As far as I know I can't have health insurance if I don't have a green card. Mine will end in a few months.

My husband was approved for ACA shortly after we married, and long before he had his green card. He only needed his I-94. Contact them and find out what you're eligible for.  https://www.healthcare.gov/

I added my wife to my health insurance as soon as we got married.  They first told us she needed an SSN, but after speaking to the rep who handles our company's policy they added her with a placeholder for the SSN.  Every couple months they sent me reminders to update her SSN, which took about a year to get.  They never dropped her coverage.

Your husband can add you to his VA health insurance by completing form VBA-21-686c.  No green card is needed to do so.

https://www.vba.va.gov/pubs/forms/VBA-21-686c-ARE.pdf

Your husband can complete the form online.  He can contact a VSO for assistance as indicated on the form.

My wife was added right after marriage and before she ever stepped foot in the US.  It is not necessary to wait for a green card before you can get health insurance.  You qualified to be added to your spouse’s plan on date of marriage.

Same here.  They use 000-00-0000 “pending SS card” exactly like adding a newborn.

Same here. I was able to sign up through ACA before we even filed for AOS. It was great insurance

I added my husband to my employer-based health insurance long before he had his green card.  Why would having a green card be a requirement?   I have never encountered any type of health insurance enrollment form that asks for immigration status.

I bought health insurance plan individually for 2021 while AOS was pending and they asked for proof of legal status. I94 (or EAD if there is one) is sufficient. A person who has AOS in progress is considered a resident, it’s just that the paperwork is pending while one’s waiting for a green card.

We didn’t even have AOS pending when I added my husband.

Just to clarify, neither did we. We submited I94 as proof to the health insurance company and only sent paperwork for AOS to USCIS months later.
