Sorry, so we made it to the US on the 21st of December. they said it will take 3+ months to receive the green card, I am just wondering how we can track when it is getting close to being mailed to us.

You should be using the case # that was given when you paid for the green card.  Not your original case number.

In the mean time the stamped IR1/CR1 visa will serve as a valid green card for a year.

Just a note, I have seen people post on here that they have been waiting longer than the 3 months, more like 8-12 months to get their card finally. If you create a profile on USCIS website with your case number, you can usually get e-mail and text updates when something happens with your case number. It should work as long as you have a case number the system recognizes. If it comes up on the check case status page, then it will show after you create a profile and you will get updates that way. It's easier than checking every few days.

I misplaced this document, where would I find that number again?

Dude.  It is important to save all documentation throughout the immigration process.  Make a file folder, and put everything in it.  It is part of adulting, like taxes.

It’s on an email when you pay for fees!

I was emailed from them on

ELISdonotreply@uscis.dhs.gov

And it’s at the bottom of that email

Better be more organized! Your immigration documents are very, very important. Make a folder and keep them in a safe, easy-to- find place.

Have you tried calling USCIS 1800 number? They would actually tell you all you need to know.
