  1. well hopefully it will work, as the 824 takes about a year, and i don't think you can file it until USCIS approves your application.
  2. It will either work, or you will have to endure the wait of the 824 form.
  3. I had read some thread here that indicated the i-824 could take a year.
  4. correction, normally it is 6 months from the medical before you go to the interview for the CR1 visa.
  5. Time spent together is most important. You aren't expected to have joint things if your spouse lives in another country.
  6. Good luck, I had the mail sent directly to the US consulate in RJ. They document was delivered on the 12th (a Tuesday), on the 15 they looked at the paperwork (but it stayed as AP), then the 19th changed to Issued. 20 got mail notification of the mailing of the passport, expecting a 27th delivery, got the passport on the 22nd.
  7. My wife's POE was on a Saturday, and she received her SSN card 10 days later.
  8. well still possible the card will be the right 10 year version. The stamp is only good for a year, so CR1/IR1 doesn't really matter.
  9. What country is your wife from?
  10. Note for the divorce decree it needs to be a certified copy of it and your spouse will need to take it to the interview at the Consulate/Embassy.
  11. between DQ and interview scheduled was a little more than a month, back in May/June of 2023.
  12. What pre-interview? Once you got the interview date, you should have scheduled with one of the approved doctors for your medical. Also if you are in a country that has a separate fingerprints, you should have scheduled an appointment for that too.
  13. I had to send an original divorce decree to the Rio US Consulate. After arriving it took a few days before it was looked at, and my wife's passport stamped and mailed. They returned the decree with the passport.
  14. My wife had an interview in Rio on Aug 7, 2023. They requested some my original divorce decree, after an about a week of them having the proper paperwork, we finally got shipping notification to RN. It was shipped via Sedex on September 20th, with a forecast of delivery on the 27th. Ended up being delivered on September 22nd.
  15. I would suggest bring a self-signed letter that she never was in one State of Brazil for more than 6 months.
  16. Based on what I have read here, i would suggest (if you aren't already thinking it) waiting until you have been married for 2 years before she comes to the US would save a bunch of headache later on when changing from CR to IR. For reference the case for my wife's i-130 took 350 days to be approved (originally submitted 2021/08/31).
  17. Though you might want a copy of your old passport showing visits to your spouses country (along with photos). For the record I renewed my passport while my spouses case was in progress with 0 issues.
  18. If you are referring to police certificates from Brazil, there is both federal police and state police. And the only state that does not do state police is Rio Grande de Norte.
  19. Note depending on where in Brazil, you should have requested both federal and state police records (unless in Rio Grande de Norte). My wife got a request for my original divorce from a prior wedding, they processed it within 10 days of getting the right document to them.
  20. We did not expedite any stage. Wow times have changed. back in 2021 I filed the i-130 and had to wait about 11 months for it be approved. The NVC stage was quick, pay the 2 bits. fill out the forms. wait for the DQ, then wait for the interview date.
  21. Note your spousal visa will expire 6 months from the date of medical. Yes, you should include the two Brazil police (unless you live in RN, then it's just the federal) If either of you have been divorced before be sure to bring a certified divorce paperwork. Make sure you take the 6x photos, though they only end up using 2 or 3 of them.
  22. In Brazil, my wife was missing childhood records, she went to a local doctor who reconstructed what she would have had and wrote a note to that effect. At the medical interview, she was requested the 2nd shot of one of those childhood vaccines and directed us to a local place to get the shot, which we walked to got her the shot and paperwork (after paying for it). had lunch, and returned to the medical office to turn in the vaccine paperwork and in return got the paperwork needed for the interview at the US Consulate in Rio.
  23. I think that is only to track name changes. Not sure, I was divorced, and did not provide my original marriage certificate. But that page is more for the beneficiary.
  24. My wife was told that (well not the old marriage certificate) in Brazil, had to send them the certified copy of my divorce paperwork from California.
