Good Morning,

So my husband had his interview January 5th,2021. Of which our case was placed on Administrative Review. They had asked for additional identification (photo ID) from 10-15 years prior. My husband turned in all requested information the following day on January 6th, 2021. We have had several date changes since then with the status still showing refused. The most recent changes were on 09/23/21, 09/28/21 and 10/05/21.

This morning someone from the US consulate came and visited my husbands apartment in Lagos,Nigeria randomly. They asked if he lived alone, verified his identity with a passport photo that we had provided them at the time of our visa application, asked if they could do an inspection of the apartment (looked throughly through his wardrobe, bathrooms and kitchen) etc. They asked him several of the same questions that were asked at the time of his interview. Such as, When were you divorced? Why did you get divorced? Where does your wife live? What’s your wife’s date of birth? Do you have any children? Does your wife have any children? And have you ever been to the US before?. (Background info: we have both been divorced before. We have been together for three years now and November will be two years married. We got married in a court house wedding in Lagos).

 I have four questions:

Has anyone ever heard of the Embassy/Consulate doing random drop in inspections?

With this home visit does that mean our case is coming to a close on being on Admin Review?

Will USCIS come and visit me at my home here in Bellevue,WA USA? (I’m not concerned I just work a lot and don’t want to be penalized for not being home should they drop by.)

What can we expect next?

Thank you!

They will surely give your husband his visa k,dont worried they have came and inspected his house and they found nonthing, just know he will be call to come and have his Visa k

I binge watched his videos after a recommendation from another VJ member. I was so sad to hear this but I understand their concerns. I really do. Just makes it difficult for those of us that are legit. My husband said he got a call this morning from the same people that did the inspection and said he would get a call from the Consulate within the next few weeks. So waiting game at this point.

please update us

and the best to u both

Yeah it just takes 1 couple to ruin it for everyone else. So if your marriage is really legit you've got nothing to worry about. If it's fraud then better watch out as people can go to jail. This goes mainly for k-1 CR-1. Some small cases with IR-1. Even though marriage was 10 years it can be all a set up. Scams and schemes are getting worse these days.

I personally know two people who have had home visits by USCIS investigators. One was here in Oregon where the Chinese beneficiary was already living in the USA, the other, was in Brazil.  In both cases, they were very simple and short visits, and in both cases the investigator wanted to look in the closet of the person to verify they actually had suitable clothing and sere in fact living there.

Hey Hey, it's Oregon Ray!

I get it. Just very disappointing and frustrating. Just will have to hope for the best. We haven’t done anything wrong.

My husband had an interview January 11th 2021. No one came to visit him. We were not put on administrative process rhough I thought we might be

I  am much older than my husband but we had all our documents in order, he was approved and got here January 22 -2021. Sorry you are going through all this.  Best of luck! There must have been something they thought was out of the ordinary. Can't imagine why they would go to such lengths.

We just got the email asking him to take a new medical exam from an approved center and turn in his passport! However, is it normal for them to indicate that he is not to turn in his passport until 6 weeks after the medical exam?

I am wondering is this is because our two year marriage mark is coming up soon. Could they possibly be extending it out for the difference in the type of visa he will be issued?!

IR is based on date of entry not issued

Ahh, I see. Thank you for the help. Well by the time it gets printed and he enters I imagine it will be after our anniversary.

6 weeks first I have heard of that can not think why

IR1 versus CR1 is from the time of marriage to your interview date, not when you enter the US

That is not correct.  It is from date of marriage to entry date into the US. for CR-1/IR-1.
