Me and my fiancé got our 2nd NOA roughly 8 weeks ago, they said they would send me a letter in the mail informing me of when to call to book the interview, documents I need to bring, etc. 2-4 weeks after receiving that letter.. It's been over 8 weeks since then. I'm in Canada, she's in Chicago.

Also, at this point I'm going to be going to stay with her for the max 6 months I'm allowed on the Canadian visa passport until we were back about getting an interview date. Is that something frowned upon and will it affect our paperwork?

Will not affect your K-1.  If asked when entering the US, are you prepared to show proof of strong ties to Canada?

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Yes, my entire family lives in Canada, I can show proof of bank deposits (for working purposes), proof of a return flight, etc.

I had to show them this last time I traveled to the USA about 2 months ago.

Our plan is to book a flight just for a month, to avoid heavy questioning at customs, then cancel the flight and re book for the appropriate 6 months later.

There's no way of knowing when embassies and consulates will resume routine visa processing, and most are likely to have a significant backlog when they do.

That's what I was afraid of. If it wasn't for covid I'd most likely already be there starting our new lives together. It's a bummer!

I wouldn't call those strong ties......but good luck.

What would be considered strong ties? They allowed me through last time with this. She asked me at customs to see proof of a job and a return flight.

Was your previous visit for 6 months also?  That is the difference this time when you try to enter.  Your proof of job would not be effective, unless your employer has given you that long of a break.

But there is no harm in trying.

Also, did you join the K-1 tracking topic the K-1 forum?  Your fellow K1 applicants would have more recent information than the rest of us here on VJ.

Your not showing that your very responsible wanting to go visit your fiancé for 6 months. I’m sure you’d impress her more if you stayed in Canada and made money and actually showed her family you were responsible

Why so negative? This is OUR idea together. I wouldn't make a decision like this if we both didn't think it was a good idea. You don't know me or my relationship with her and her family. I have money saved for such things. I've been saving for the past year and a half.

And yet you've said in this thread that you plan to lie to CBP about the duration of your trip.....?

Hopefully you also realize that you cannot work, even remotely, in the US without work authorization.

I'm not planning to work in the US. I'd be going back to my job in Canada.

The white lie would be to purely avoid any Intense scrutiny and questioning by the boarder patrol. I have no malicious intent at all.

ANY lie to immigration is for malicious intent....and will not be condoned here on VJ.
