I wonder who and why would want to slow down immigration, even though POTUS just signed a bill about undocumented immigrants out of the census.

Yeah right... You wouldn't believe how many people are playing this whole thing up just to work from home. It is legit crazy.... Some people have flat out said that they won't come back until the curve is flattened or their is a vaccine. While other people (like my boss) is still "quarantined" because her daughter keeps going out in public with no mask on with her kids, then dropping them off at my boss's house. So she has been quarantined for 3 weeks now. Not to mention we have a new division chief coming in in 2 weeks from Germany and he isn't quarantining and people are already saying that they will stay home for 2 weeks to make sure he is good to go

DHS Ombudsman released some info today basically saying because of the furloughs, the USCIS claims of ''running out of money" which we now know is a lie, and the USCIS firing the printing contractor, green cards and EAD printing will continue to be severely backlogged for the future. They estimate this will increase if the USCIS does indeed go forward with nearly a complete shutdown with furloughs. They suggest making Infopass appointments for stamps, but we all know the difficulties with that. The Ombudsman will continue to update on the situation.

My wife has been waiting since last November for her Global Entry ID.  Normally takes a couple of months.  Now unlikely she will get it this year.  It's not just immigration that is being messed up so badly.

Does she have her membership/TSA Pre number? If so you can use it without the physical card. Non-US citizens never get a card.

Here's a good article for those who want to know about the green card and EAD card printing backlog fiasco that started in mid-June.
