It's a preliminary report, so nothing is conclusive yet. Full results take  ~10-14 days, possibly longer if toxicology tests are also done. I'm not sure that they were looking at asphyxiation being the primary cause of death. It's fairly obvious that it's carotid artery compression caused decreased oxygen to the brain, and ultimately death. You can see it happening on the video. It's a known risk of using that type of restraint, and why they are not supposed to even use it anymore.

i have to wonder if the cop had an ax to grind with the guy, as they knew each other.

I carry a gun because a cop is too heavy.

USE THE REPORT BUTTON INSTEAD OF MESSAGING A MODERATOR!

I've never conveyed my anger over something by ripping off the local Target. Once people cross that line, the message is lost. I don't care how angry they are, looting is not protesting.  I do think it's mostly a small number of people taking advantage of the situation.

Poor ole George died from hypoxia, the disease that kills 98.7% of us.

It's not the dying of hypoxia that gets me, it's the fact that the cause of such death was by a law enforcement officer who had to know better, had to have understood what was happening when the mans body went limp, and some how still decided to keep pressure on the guys neck for 3 more minutes after that. All of us will certainly die, many of us may die of hypoxia, but most of us won't get murdered by someone whose job is supposed to be keeping people safe.

I know.  Watching the first video made me sick to my stomach.  I don't care WHAT the official cause of death was... he was murdered by a cold, uncaring person who had some sort of axe to grind.  I would have risked my life to save his, had I been there.  Two or three gun-carrying citizens COULD have prevented his death, though I realize it might have ended in a bloodbath.  George Floyd didn't deserve this.  I don't even care what he did (maybe passed a phony $20 bill?).  NO ONE deserves to die like that.  No matter what comes of the autopsy, the officer needs the death penalty, IMO.

That might be all that satisfies the protesters.

However, I heard it reported that the current charges carry "only" a cumulative 35 years.

Edited to add:  Unclear that an imprisoned cop would survive for his entire sentence, or that he would want to... some fates might be worse than death.

What happened here is terrible but it's no excuse to damage and burn down private property. They'll go nowhere fast with these antics.

Also, not seeing anyone on the left comment on the lack of social distancing?

It would have been kind of cool to see the rioters make the mistake of storming the white house
