I read this to him. He said he is sorely tempted but he is more concerned with what his wife-to-be wants at home. And if she says no, it's sadly a no.

I don't disagree with you. The Grove protest was peaceful until... it wasn't. I keep hearing about outside agitators causing the bulk of the problem in Minnesota, and that the mayor of St. Paul said that everyone arrested there on Friday was from out of state. People of ALL stripes who have axes to grind or unrest to inflame are using the protests as cover, to create havoc of their own and to join in what's springing from anger about Floyd and others. It's too early to say that everyone who is looting and rioting is from one camp or another. There's way too much confusion -- which is what those who are seeking to inflame passions are relying on. We can condemn the violence I think without pointing fingers in only one or two directions.

Curfew has been announced in downtown LA, West Hollywood and Beverly Hills. Not that we're going anywhere anyway, but tonight's a good night I think to open up a couple of bottles and stay put.

Yeah, the mayor of St. Paul was wrong.

A USA Today report quoted a security consultant saying intelligence reports indicate many of the more serious protesters are far-left or anarchists, without a significant appearance yet by far-right groups – while noting locals and outsiders could be involved in conflicts with authorities.

Multiple officials said that those engaging in violence were not from the area. Frey said that "the people that are doing this are not Minneapolis residents," while St. Paul Mayor Melvin Carter said at a news conference that everyone arrested in the protests “was from out of state.”

However, a report by KARE 11 showed "about 86 percent" of the 36 arrests by Minneapolis-based police listed their address in Minnesota, and that they live in Minneapolis or the metro area, according to data the outlet analyzed from the Hennepin County Jail's roster. Five out-of-state cases came from Arkansas, Florida, Illinois, Michigan and Missouri, according to KARE 11.

And he corrected himself, which I was glad to see, instead of just ignoring the mistake. That's the right thing to do.

The right thing to do is to know the facts before flying off on the handle especially considering the situation.

Agreed. I think that can be said of many people and institutions. Making corrections is an important part of accountability, which we see too little of these days.

Thankful that the rioting did not go into crazy territory last night in B'more. Wilmington and Philly did not fare so well.

Of the numerous disturbing videos I saw last night: one was the outright murder of a man in Dallas

the white fat guy with a bow trying to shoot black men (he promptly got his butt beatdown. also seems to be insane, racist, and a sex offender)

a non-protester woman assaulting a white officer (showing incredible patience!) of the BPD, and instead of trying to restrain her, his African American cop buddy socked her full first in the face laying her out cold. We could say she deserved it, but that is not conduct befitting of an officer or any of them because there were plenty of men around that could have subdued her. Instead she fell to the pavement unconscious and the BPD are probably going to be sued.

We had some protests in town, mostly standing in the same spot they were protest/whining about wearing masks and mark of the beast vaccines a few days ago.

Antifa has been, or is about to be, formally declared to be a terrorist organization.  RICO law may apply.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

This is a block and a half away from me.

I am trying to stay offline and stay connected to my family and family right now, same with Alex. Taking a breather between calls. We have been under curfew for the past 25 minutes. Windows are locked. My best friend who lives two blocks away from me got out of here this morning and went to a mutual friend's in Burbank; we are only still here because we really didn't have enough time to get ourselves together and get out. Given our pending COVID19 test results, we really had no business leaving self-isolation anyway.

City and county officials are saying the demonstrations today in SM are separate from the looting and damage. These are people coming into our community and taking advantage of the demonstration to do this to us. Local news is calling it organized crime. This is terrifying and this is not just one race or ethnicity doing this.

Going offline again for a while. Could use everyone's positive thoughts for our little city right now.

just a suggestion:  fill everything you can with water.  check batteries in flashlights.  charge your cell phones constantly.  take showers now.
and refrain from opening the refrigerator/freezer if power goes out.
