Moving to the US in 2 weeks. What to do?

In my opinion travel ban between the UK and the USA simply cannot continue for more than two months. Not only would it be economically catastrophic, the reality is that within the next two weeks both countries will have so many locally infected people and community spread that the argument for preventing foreigners from coming to infect the country would totally no longer make sense.

Now if you were from some developing country etc, it could be possible for such nationals to be banned almost indefinitely from the USA.  Fortunately for you the UK & the USA are as close an alliance as you can get hence such continued ban is quite simply impossible.

In summary if it makes financial etc sense to hold off till your proposed date, I would do it.

Restrictions are not just to prevent spread between countries. It's also because we don't have the medical care available to keep treating this if people keep going and spreading the virus to others. If each infected person only infects two others, the health care systems around the world will be overwhelmed in days. At an airport, 1 person could infect 100's of people. They are not going to let that happen.

My guess is these restrictions will be in place until we see sustained evidence of new cases leveling off and dropping. Even when they are lifted, I would expect to seem them reinstated periodically in endemic areas for the foreseeable future.

I would say get on a plane ASAP—don’t wait two weeks; anything could change in that time. If you end up having to wait until your visa expires, then you have to get a new medical, and lord knows how long that could be delayed.  As my husband likes to say, you “have the potato in hand” right now, so just go for it and don’t risk more delays. Be with your wife.  Just my opinion.

You should book your flight to come to the USA now.  While you can.

The idea that this “cannot” continue for two weeks has no basis   Over a third of the population of California is confined to their homes 24/7 now, barring limited exceptions.  It will be the majority soon. It’s coming to New York and other states

If a 100M+ Americans can be confined to their homes for more than 2 weeks non USA persons from the rest of world can continue to be banned for more than 2 weeks.

I have my flights booked to move to the US in two weeks yet with so much uncertainty I am unsure if I will be able to make it on a plane to move there let alone any trouble I will face once I land.

My visa states I must enter the country by 14 May 2020 but alot can chage till then.

Any advice? should I move my ticket forward to wait it out?

I'm in your position too, flights booked for 8th may, I'm post worried about losing my visa as it expires 21 May.

I've contacted the US embassy here in Amsterdam with no response as of yet.

I don't mind an extension of sorts, just don't want to lose the visa after going through the entire visa for the last 10 months.

Have you yet managed to contact anyone, if so do you know your next step??

i'm in the same boat, due to fly to the US from Australia mid June. I'll contact the Embassy but I i have a feeling they will say it's too far to know.  let me know if you guys hear anything, an extension would be great if they'll allow it!

Like many of you I'm in the same boat, K-1 Visa & was due to travel out Monday, my Visa expires next late next week.
I've spoken to the London embassy by phone/email and they said to wait until my Visa expires and apply for a re-issuance, however, my understanding previously was that only J, O & P Visa's could be re-issued?
Does anyone have any information on this?

I haven't heard anything about re-issuance but surely someone on this side would know! I hope you get the answer ASAP

no alcohol? why?

For the same reasons the Bay area have a 'Shelter in Place' order I guess. They want no one leaving there home to go to bars etc. For the time being you can still visit grocery store to buy your beer

My visa expires on 24 August, I was due to flight on 25th May but I am happy to push it. I saw online that spouse of US citizens will be granted entry even there is ban.

OP and others,   I have been flying thru this entire mess internationally since February.  It has been getting worse every week, if not every day.   I have a critical domestic work trip starting this week going to about 6 rural cities and half of my flights have been canceled.

I would leave now if you can.  If only to activate your green card.

My flight for Saturday just got cancelled (Turkish Airlines). My flight (original one) through Moscow got cancelled too, that was supposed to be on April 5th.

I really, really hope we can get extensions. This is not fair. If anyone knows what happens to K1 visa holders, please let the rest of us know.

I am possibly looking at the option of a possible extension on the entry of the visa but when i sent an email to the embassy i received a generic response (something that was copy and pasted) so if anyone hears different I would love to know.

Also I was thinking of delaying my flight for another month just so I can stay in employment a little longer just for some extra cash as I think the recession coming would make it difficult to find a job once I am there.

The medical prevents extensions. Travel asap or redo the entire process. Your choice.
