ok, learning the Abbreviation Talk 👌🏾 I’m the Petitioner. And I will have to submit W2’s and that I864? That’s it???

If you’re the only sponsor with a sole beneficiary then it’s i1864ez....IRS transcripts are easiest and the preferred... w2’s only needed when submitting 1040’s

if using a join sponsor or multiple beneficiaries then i1864..

You also need "proof of current employment" so you'll also need some recent paystubs or a letter from your employer. Not sure if it's required but I also uploaded my (the petitioner's) birth certificate and our marriage certificate under both my husband's civil docs and under my financial docs

Our CR1 Journey:

USCIS Stage:

  • Feb 14 2019: NOA1 (NSC)
  • July 31 2019: I129f NOA1
  • Sep 19 2019: I129f NOA2 (Denied - 50 days from NOA1)
  • Sep 19 2019: I130 NOA2 (Approved - 217 days from NOA1)

NVC Stage:

  • Sep 27 2019: Sent to Department of State
  • Oct 31 2019: Case number received (34 days since sent)
  • Nov 1 2019: IV & AOS fees received & paid
  • Nov 14 2019: IV & AOS submitted
  • Dec 18 2019: All docs accepted, but one additional doc requested (5 weeks from submission)
  • Dec 18 2019: Requested doc submitted
  • Feb 19 2020: Documentarily Qualified (9 weeks from 2nd submission, 14 weeks from first submission)

Interview Stage:

  • Mar 11 2020: Interview letter received
  • Apr 1 2020: Interview date
  • Mar 17 2020: Interview cancelled due to COVID-19
  • August 3 2020: Rescheduled letter received, new appointment August 25 2020
  • August 25 2020: Visa approved at interview! (558 days from NOA1)
  • September 10 2020: Embassy received passport in mail
  • September 15 2020: Passport with visa in hand

October 11 2020: Arrived in US!

Can you still use the i-864 if you're qualifying on assets?

We've only done the I-864 not the ez version.

If a sponsor's income does not meet the minimum Federal Poverty Guidelines, he or she can submit the value of assets to make up the difference unless the sponsor is submitting a Form I-864EZ. When looking at income levels, the consular officer will look at the sponsor's employment income first. Personal assets and/or the income and assets of household members who have signed an I-864A are totaled next. Usually the sponsor must present evidence of location, ownership and value including liens and liabilities for each asset listed

Right so just the I-864 in that situation.

Just got 2 emails saying we got DQ.

Is NVC monitoring these threads or what? The threat of me calling every other day  must have got them to press the "APPROVE"! or perhaps good lord up above heard my prayers.

Good luck everyone!

Congrats!

did you submit all docs on 11/10 or did you submit part 1, which was DS-260 visa application

Hey guys, do you know we can use previous translated document for NVC stage? I have my marriage certificate that was already translated when I submit I-130. Can I use that translated file or do I have to translate it again?

- Sorry, had to copied my question from other NVC Filers - January 2020 thread to here.

I-130 approved -  Sep 26 2019

NVC Received - Oct 8th 2019

Case Created - Oct 28th 2019

Fee Paid - Nov 5th 2019

They simply read what they saw in their terminal, " you submitted the documents on Nov 10th, we're currently processing such and such date which is posted on the website. please wait"

Hey man congrats. Any tips on how to get your documents DQ on the first try? I submitted ALL required documents but optional documents I just submitted the things I think would be useful. Thanks.

Is "proof of current employment" an optional document? It didn't ask that for me in the required doc. Now I'm scared.

We didnt upload pay stub or employment letter. We got our DQ in first submission. Maybe it was case to case basis . Just wait for them to review your documents.

Apparently not. I originally didn’t include proof of employment because I’m unemployed but they told me I must upload it even if it’s just a statement saying I’m unemployed. If you are employed it can be a letter from an employer or recent paystubs

My parents filed their taxes jointly but my mom is unemployed and my dad is employed. Didn't know I'd need to provide a statement that she's unemployed. Not sure if I should just write a letter now and upload the document under the optional section, but that'll send me to the back of the line..

I didn’t upload proof of current employment either, but I did upload three years of tax transcripts that were consistent. DQ ‘d with no problems on the AOS docs.
