So...conspiracy theory that they are targeting random intending immigrants - in coordination with a private facility and the CDC - based on a bad experience. Checks out to me. 👍

This is why I won't talk about it.  Waste of time until you experience it.

I tried.  I wrote letters, I made phone calls, I even paid for an unbiased chest X ray.  I got stone walled everywhere.  You are right about who makes the rules.  I was forced to give up and wait the 8 weeks.

That's not a scam that you are experiencing. The US (USEM in this case) has strick procedures that SLEC must follow. The equipment the SLEC must use is mandated by the embassy's guidelines. The other item that one must take under consideration is the rampant under the table payments that go on in the Philippines leaving the medical facility and the embassy no choice but to have these strict guidelines.

I don't disagree with you on any of this.  The difference between you and me is that I have experienced this first hand and you haven't and I know the system has become corrupted and you don't know it.

Listen, please everyone.  You all can argue this all you want or call  me whatever names suit you but I'm done responding.  I have more productive things to do.

We went through the same experience that you did at SLEC. Everyone does. So I don't necessarily agree that I haven't experienced it. You have yet to devulge how you were scammed so therefor I have others who are in need of my time so I am moving on from this conversation. Best of luck to you.

Can you do another medical and request a new extension on your K1, if the reason behind the shorter validity period is medical?

And if the reason behind the shorter validity period isn't due to medical, then what else could it be?

I have met someone first hand who was hit up by SLEC for TB and had to do treatment in Manila the whole time. She tried to get around SLEC saying she had TB by paying off a doctor in Davao City to write something saying that she didn't have TB and it was their test equipment that was wrong..... Well when the sputum test came back positive that shut her up real good and gave in to treatment.

Maybe a positive note: In our Visa Journey, we needed to do the sputum test for my wife. I too had thoughts of why us and the delay.  But I read up on the protocols of St. Luke and came to agree with the process.  St. Luke could improve in communication, the lack of information presented to my wife was very heart breaking and sad.  I am glad I was there to comfort and clarify, it was a good thing.  I went with her to the early morning testing for the three days.

Fast forward, the smears and eight week cultures were all negative.  So when we did get to Minnesota, we had my local health provider test my daughter and wife for the latent TB. My wife was negative and daughter was positive (something about a neighbor had it 10 years ago).  My state of Minnesota pays for free the treatment for her.  It is a 7 pills once a week administered at home for 12 weeks.  No side effects but, a public health nurse checks her once a month.

I am glad we did all we have done for the health of the family down the road.
