A scam in what way? I am always amazed when I see people say this.

The reason you're amazed is because they haven't scammed you.  It's the only way you'll ever understand.  I'm not going to waste my time trying to convince you.

I've read several times that a K1 visa is valid for 6 months from the date of issue and yet my fiance's K1 visa clearly expires 30 Jan 2020 even though it was issued 10 Dec 2019.  Anybody know what is going on here?

The dates don't make sense to me.  All I know is that once a K1 is issued, the immigrant has up to 6 months to get where he or she is going, and once they make he POE,  they have 90 days to marry.  Maybe I'm wrong, won't be the first time.

You are wrong. Sorry chap. The visa expiration date is tied to the medical but the embassy follows the recommendation from the medical facility who has the leeway to indicate what date they will use. Anytime you have additional testing it influences the expiration date. It has been that way for the 6 years I have been here answering questions, especially to those in the PI because of the rampant TB problems. Further information is contained in the following link.

IMPORTANT NOTE:  Medical examination results are valid for six months in normal circumstances. But if you have certain medical conditions your examination results could expire in as little as 3 months. In any case, you should not have your medical examination until the NVC notifies you of your interview appointment date. You may be denied entry to the United States if your medical examination results expire before your arrival.

Why is that a scam?  They don't just do further testing for fun.  We don't want people bringing over TB, so the screening and diagnostic process is important.

I agree.  It's very important but it has been corrupted. You won't believe me until you go through it as I did or as my fiance did.  Someday the truth will surface.

But not today.

Weird though, that with the 1000s of others here who have gone through Manila, no one else has reported scams or corruption when it comes to the medical exam.

~1/5 of the world's K-1s go through Manila, and a whole lot of immigrant visas as well. It's also one of the top few sites for TB. So yeah, the US panel physician takes it very seriously and has appropriate equipment for it. A lot of people will go though sputum. Some will have TB...most won't.

They don't charge extra for the test or even treatment, IIRC (I'm not 100% on the treatment part, but that was my understanding). Not sure how they stand to benefit in any sort of scam here.

You keep referring to being scammed but we have yet to hear how they have scammed you and what you plan to do about it. Sitting on the sidelines and not saying anything to the authorities that can change things only adds to the perpetuation of the scam. Just my opinion.

I'll tell you in three simple words, none of which you will believe.  The words are: DENY, DELAY, HARASS.   These are the unspoken general orders of the entire immigration service.  The larger the volume the more they apply.

So...conspiracy theory that they are targeting random intending immigrants - in coordination with a private facility and the CDC - based on a bad experience. Checks out to me. 👍

Also, this process has been the same for years and years, across both pro-immigration and anti-immigration administrations.

I tried.  I wrote letters, I made phone calls, I even paid for an unbiased chest X ray.  I got stone walled everywhere.  You are right about who makes the rules.  I was forced to give up and wait the 8 weeks.
