I would think the process of proving  you can't find a properly qualified maiden based in the US would be difficult or interesting at least

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

I’m guessing middle eastern

See I was going to guess Filipina with the guy having a record that would prevent normal petitioning.

OP might want to come back and clarify as we are known to let our imaginations run wild when left to ourselves 🤦‍♀️

Interesting answers :)

I am looking for a full time house maid, have a separate room in my house, and attend to basic chores - cleaning, some cooking, caring for kids.

I had great experience with Filipina maids in the past when I stayed in Asia.  I thought I can get one directly from the Asia instead of hiring one from here for reasons I can get better qualified and priced more reasonable than getting a maid here in the US.

I hope that answers your questions.  I can see how difficult it is now as explained by some :(.

Even if it was possible (ie. domestic worker visa/au pair), you would be required to pay them at least the equivalent of what someone in your same State would make doing the same job.  And submit a formal employment contract between you and the person to the CO, outlining the financial (and other) details.

This is, you know, so the foreigner is protected from people who believe that foreign workers mean cheap wages, and try to take advantage of them.

It doesn't work like that. It is not your fault, you just have a grave misunderstanding of how immigration works. And as someone mentioned, you will not be paying the maid a lower rate, US labor laws requires you to pay at least minimum wage, which could be much higher than what you were paying in the Philippines.

There was a high profile case of a foreign diplomat who was arrested in the US because she wasn't paying her maid proper pay.

Bringing over cheap labor is not going to cut it. You will just have to find a maid service in the US.

You do realize that "priced more reasonable" has to do with the local economy and wages in Asia vs the US, right?  Trying to avoid paying household help a living wage by bringing over someone from a country with low wages is really crappy.

Oh, and also:  maids do not have or need "qualifications."  There is no maid school, licensure, or anything similar.

I think you’d want to move back to Asia to get that reasonably priced maid.

For US, care.com or employment agency should be able to get you US priced maid service.
