He was talking about coming this way next year he works for the government but I am confused because I was told a tourist visa for someone in nigeria is hard to get to americs

Hope this helps. I am from Kenya (The US Embassy in Nairobi is very very tough too - blame it on my countrymen overstaying illegally here).

Many Nigerians get B2s (visitor visas) to come here, however, he will have to disclose on his DS-160 that you are his fiance. (immigrant intend). That could cause a denial.

We were a gay couple engaged and I got denied immediately when I told the Official I had a fiance in the USA while the K1 was in the process.

Nigeria and Ghana are very high fraud county Embassies...(look below for the Ghana Scams etc), so they are very tough.

https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowForum-g293796-i9182-Ghana.html

He had to come to see me (of course it was good) three times while the K1 was being processed. Took 9 months. So at the Embassy they asked how many time we had seen each other in total.

You might want to spend more time with him and check out the affordability factor too.

Good luck dear

We have a mutual friend. She introduced me to him after she returned from nigeria and I was not interested at first only because I have other men who were interested and I was content with just that. But i said i didnt mind chatting with him a couple of times. We talked over phone and chats. We spoke through video after a while. I didnt mind his company. We have been speaking ever since.

I see......Good luck....Keep us informed......I will be looking forward to your updates..........and remember that the immigration process demands a great deal of knowledge, planning, time, patience, and money..........

I have answer this question above

Can I recommend that you marry there in his country, return and file a CR1 visa which would give you more of a chance to travel over the speed bumps that a K1 gives.

Here are the difference in the two visas and prices.

K-1 vs CR-1 Full Analysis

K-1

More expensive than CR-1

Requires Adjustment of Status after marriage (expensive and requires a lot of paperwork)

Spouse can not leave the US until she/he receives approved Advance Parole (about 5-6 months)

Spouse can not work until she/he receives EAD (about 5-6 months)

Some people have had problems with driver licenses, Social Security cards, leases, bank account during this period

Spouse will not receive Green Card for 10 to 12 months after Adjustment of Status is filed.

If you have red flags this may be the best place to start in case of denial.

Estimated timeline is approximately 8 to 10 months (NOA1 to Interview)  This is officially quoted as 6 to 12 months.

K-1 Fees

$535 - USCIS Filing Fee

$265 per person - DS-160 (Visa Application)

$200 to $400 - Medical Fee

$1,225 per person - AOS Fee (Includes EAD/AP if filed together)

$750 per child under 14

$680 per person - ROC Fee

$2,705 plus medical (K-1)

$2,170 plus medical (K-2 over 14 years old)

$1,695 plus medical (K-2 14 years old and younger)

CR-1

Less expensive than K-1

No Adjustment of Status  (I-485, I-131, I-765) required.

Spouse can immediately travel outside the US

Spouse is authorized to work immediately upon arrival.

Spouse receives Social Security Card and Green Card within 2 or 3 weeks after entering the US

Opening a bank account, getting a driver's license, etc. are very easily accomplished with GC, SS card, and passport.

Spouse has Legal Permanent Resident (LPR) status IMMEDIATELY upon entry to the United States

If you are truly concerned about a denial, the K-1 may be a better place to start.

Estimated timeline is 10 to 12 months (NOA1 to Interview) This is officially quoted at 12 to 14 months.

CR-1 Fees

$535 - USCIS Filing Fee

$120 - Affidavit of Support Fee

$325 - DS-260 (Visa Application)

$200 to $400 - Medical Fee

$220 - USCIS Immigrant Fee

$680 - ROC (if married less than 2 years at POE)

$1,200 plus medical (per person if married more than 2 years when filing)

$1,880 plus medical (per person if married less than 2 years at POE)

So after my third trip are you recommending I file the paperwork. I do not want to mess anything up. He was suggesting I could come and after the second visit. I will be meeting his family on the second visit. Then going back sometime in the beginning of summer 2020.

you can file anytime

After the 2nd trip is fine especially since you say your children are going and will meet him

but before the interview,  have as much time with him as possible (we say face time).  this can be more trips or longer visits like a month instead of 2 weeks

and a CR1 (spouse visa would be more successful in Nigeria / only my opinion)

and do not send engagement party photos as i stated before as Lagos will say "too married for K1"

the fact you were introduced thru a friend is much better than someone finding you online (for this embassy )

do read the US  embassy site and be familiar with that country's issues

https://ng.usembassy.gov/u-s-citizen-services/local-resources-of-u-s-citizens/scams/

and no one judges /  many of us "fall in love at 1st site"

just be sure it is a lasting relationship as that is the proof immigration needs

You ask do you have red flags? Yes you do. But nothing that can't be overcome. How long was your visit?

But I would strongly suggest you not do a fiance'. Reason you have been married 2 other times with 5 children. Filing a fiance' show you either aren't ready to marry, not committed. Remember the CO must be convinced that the Visa they issue will result in a marriage within 90 days of arrival.

You might be thinking but I want my friends and family to witness my marriage. Nope not good this is Nigeria family there trumps yours trust me. Have any of your children meet him (In person not Skype or any other video chat)?

Will they not accept video chats as an adequate form of communication with children or other family members?

They do not accept video chats.

Do you mean screenshots of video chats or video recording? If you mean screenshots of video chats, that's fine.

So if we have taken screenshots of our chats when the kids or our families talk will be fine to prove that he has meet my children and my mom and that I have meet his mom and son?

Yea, why not? Face time will always trump online communication but screenshots would be a nice addition for your file.

To show that you have met them just use Airline Tickets, Hotel receipts whatever.

Thank you for the breakdown

I do have an additional question. When we have to provide proof of our meetings and things of that nature. Will our video calls and our chats and texts be admissible for use? Can I get this paperwork now just to look it over before filing anything. Is there a link here to look at the paperwork and see what we should be doing now to prepare for all of the things needed?

Thank you David

But spending more time than I already have planned would be a problem. Even though I am a pretty successful woman I do have kids here and a job. I was thinking spending more time would be too much of an expense to have on my budget. I can however visit at least 3 times. Having family like I do it seems fair that the embassy would see that coming to live there for extended period of time would be a problem

Right?
