Hi everyone! I’m new to the forums, I just created an account because I honestly don’t know what to do. I’m k-1 visa from Brazil and we filled out in august. We just got a rfe regarding my birth certificate. They are saying that they only accept unabridged records of birth certificate from Brazil because since two years ago Brazil stopped distinguishing biological parents from adopting parents in birth certificates. The copy I sent out is from a BC that was registered in 1993, but the copy was issued in 2019. The visa reciprocity and civil documents website says that BC issued after 2017 should be unabridged. I was registered in 1993, after my birth. That’s the year of the document. 2019  the date that they printed the certified copy. If I sent a copy of the birth certificate that was issued before that, would it solve my issue?
It’s unusual to have the unabridged records of your BC issued, so I’ve never had that and there’s no way I can’t go to Brazil to get it (as I don’t have my travel authorization yet). My parent who has power of attorney to get this document doesn’t live anywhere close to my hometown and can’t travel there in time to respond to this RFE... I don’t know what to do! Please, I need help...

Finally, my and my son's combo cards arrived last Friday and today his SSN card arrived too. We are all set except for the interview which will hardly happen until next Christmas. So be it, we are happy with what we've got so far. Good luck to all you guys with impending interviews, we will be moving to NYC thread which better suits our situation

Portland Or, too and is very frustrating. Im still in fingerprint review was completed.

Marcela whats your current status on the I-485?

"Fingerprints are completed" I feel like they are very far behind with interviews that they are just approving AP and EAD...I saw someone here from PDX that just EAD and AP. I am on day 111 as per my tracker so I hope I get those very soon... I don't really care about I 485 as I know it eventually will come

I’m from Newark and I got ead approved yesterday. My PD is 08/12 just few days before yours.  I think you will get some updates soon.  Still waiting for the interview notice.
