How long was your last visit? Moroccan culture is very different from culture and lifestyle in the US. It maybe be fine to visit for a few weeks as a fun holiday, but how do you think he will do with the culture difference? My husband lived in Rabat, a rather modern city, and had a somewhat worldly view from his time spent studying at his university. He's been in the US over a year now and the culture difference is still huge for him.

As for his cousin...he came here 5 years ago on a work visa or marriage visa? Times are a lot different know in terms of the speed of the immigration process.

How?? when he's in a home with 3 women and 2 children he is the only one that works.

If these people are dependent on him, how will he support them after coming to the US on a K1- he will not be able to work for several months

Just another thing to keep in mind

and yes I echo what others have said, certainly you do not need to convert, but you should understand the basics of Islam and critically if you are planning an Islamic marriage understand the Nikah, know your rights, and make sure you carefully consider what rights you list in the Nikah (for example, you may want to specify that you also have the right of divorce)

Why had it bern 2.5 years for you?

Was your Visa denied?

Fid you get married in Morocco??

It wasnt denied just not approved. If a K1 gets Administrative Processing it often expires. A CR1 (spouse visa) doesn't expire. A K1 is valid only 4 months after approval.

So 1 year for K1 then we got married about 6 months after K1 expired and then 1 year for CR1. Waiting for interview now.

And yes, I specifically told you it took us 5 days to get married in Morocco

it is the engagement ceremony.  We are at his house with his family. Ate you someone who was approved or denied in Morocco?

What is AOS?

I am not getting married in Morocco.  It's more expensive. Cheaper fees for USA but the marriage is not and plus it takes even longer for him to come here. I am an American American ..ok man and it's my first wedding I'd like my family to see it. I dont have vacation time to go over there as often as you speak not just money. Also if you aren't aware we cant even be alone there it sucks.

was denied K1 as many of us r

had to go marry and do the CR1

AOS is adjustment of status after you marry in USA for his green card and residency (to VJ'ers hope i said this right as i did  not have to do this)

you apply for AOS after marriage   cost is $1225

Please,  don't ever put down comments from these VJ'ers who have seen and witnessed it all

they know Casa embassy

they know what immigration wants to see

they know the fees

they know it all

and they have the experience to help u   / no matter what embassy they are from

and yes ,  the best advice is from those of us that have gone thru the Casa embassy

but never never think the others are giving poor or unneeded advice

take it all in and use what u can

and if you continue in this journey you will be asking more questions so don't turn off advice from other embassies

I dont think she was trying to put anyone down, just merely wanting advice from the people who had direct contact with Casa. At the end of the day I am sure she will make the decision that's best suited for her life, theere's no need for us to be mean and state the obvious in a harsh way, if she's asking is because there's lingering doubt, we have all been there, doubting the process of how to file, what's the best approach etc, we are only human.

I feel like maybe a bit of harshness might help. Those of us who have been through this forget how confusing and romantic it is to love someone from afar. It is smart to think of all of the facts.

Had to say it or she could perhaps stop getting help from the real knowledgable people

this process changes constantly and not all of us can keep up with the new rules

it is important we listen to the ones that have gone the distance

how is this relevant, she's saying just that, she wants to know about those from OUR consulate that are "knowledgable". Please , sometimes you can be so mean and off the wall, you're not helping, you're destroying people's hopes in a harsh way. Is it fraud? Maybe, but can't you be kinder in the delivery?
