A funny and related thread

I was being sarcastic.  I had it on speaker phone and was watching tv.

2. Checking on your embassy case number from NVC:

It will take 7 - 10 business days for NVC to receive your file from USCIS after you receive the NOA2, then another 2 - 5 business days for NVC to get your file in their system and produce your case number. Call 7:00 am eastern time for shorter wait times.

1-603-334-0700 or 603-334-0888. Operator assistance is available Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 12:00 AM (Eastern Time)

1 for English, then 7 (or 5, but I would go 7 as they would tell you if you should call 5 instead after they receive your case.)

I gave it 10 business days and I just called NVC to see if they received it. They said they received it on Dec 10 😅

Little more info for others: I called 603-334-0700 and pressed 1 and then 7.  There was no wait :); I called from California local time 8:50 pm PST.

Good time to call, that was 10 minutes before they closed :)

Welll things were going great until.. I received my case # tonight 😔

Soo I called NVC just before they closed. I was so happy to hear the lady on the other line asking for more details regarding my petition until she said those first 3 letters of the Embassy and I was like noooo! I wrote it down and thanked her and hung up.  I couldn’t believe my ears after all this wait time. (1year today since filing petition). It was the wrong embassy!!

So after I checked and double checked the 3 letter case # it was confirmed that it is not the country of legal residency of my fiance. So now what?! The case number was created today. The status still shows at NVC. My question now is... do I contact NVC on how to go about transfering embassys? Since petition is still at NVC. Or do I contact the Embassy of my fiances residency and ask how to transfer?

I'm curious as to why you didn't ask her about it when you were on the phone with her. I guess yours should have started SKO but you didn't put what the letters were for the one they gave you.

It was out of shock and disappointment and confusion. Mentally drained to say the least as to why I didnt ask her on the phone. Dumb on my part i know. 🤦🏻‍♀️

@Greenbaum would you have any advice on my current situation? I know you have previously posted that one should contact the Embassy that they wish to have their case/interview and ask how to transfer. Does this still hold true in my situation being that its still at NVC?  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

There you have it. Worked as posted and since you called at 8:50pm PST which is 11:50pm EST you just came in under the 12 midnight closing as advertised.

First call NVC and try and talk to a tier 2 or a tier 2 supervisor to determine why you were assigned the Embassy that they had assigned your case two. If that doesn't work and the file goes to the Embassy follow the instructions below.

If you wish to have your immigrant/fiancée visa file transferred from one Embassy to another U.S. Embassy/Consulate, please contact the appropriate U.S. Embassy/Consulate directly in the country where you wish to apply and follow their instructions for case transfer. Please click here for the full list of all U.S. Embassies and Consulates overseas.

The old Embassy will need to receive a formal file transfer request from that U.S. Embassy/Consulate in the country where you wish to apply. Upon receipt of this request, they will immediately forward the file for the New Embassy to process.

Once you contact your New Embassy you then can discuss the transfer of your fee. Be sure to have your payment receipt available.

Thank youu!! Just needed some clarification. I will call NVC first thing Monday morning. Hopefully I can situate things from there on since the number was only assigned today.

When you receive your case number from NVC, when you enter your information on the tracker should something come up as long as you have a case number? Or is it only when it's ready for transit? My reason for asking is that when I tried, its popping up as "Invalid Immigrant Visa Case Number". But this is the number that the rep gave me and i made sure to repeat it back to them. Am I doing something wrong? I used the CEAC.STATE.GOV website and used visa application type as immigrant visa.

I was just recently told by someone who went through this and had a daughter that you have to have the affidavit of support notarized before sending it to your fiance.  Anyone know anything about this?
