I don't think the founding fathers ever imagined that a state like Wyoming with a population of under 600,000 having an equal voice in the Senate as that of California with a population of just shy of 40 million.

I agree it's totally unfair.

So the only fair solution is to allow only 600,000 Californians to vote.

Or perhaps a more nuanced approach could be undertaken. Give larger States a couple of extra senators, to help balance out the rise of partisan politics, and return to having senators being by state legislative bodies. The Senate was supposed to help quel populism, not facilitate it.

Wish we could, a lot of them seem intent on moving elsewhere and screwing other States up.

It's outdated, plain and simple, land doesn't vote, people do. People in more rural States shouldn't have more power in their vote than people who live in populated areas like the city and Suburbs.

Wait, didn’t you say the electoral process that elected Trump was outdated, and unfair, since Hillary carried the popular vote?

NVM, I see you already put your foot in your mouth on that one too.

The Senate and the House of Representatives are about checks and balances.  While each state elects two senators, each state is divided up into congressional districts represented roughly by population.

So while both California and Wyoming have two senators each, California has 53 congressional seats in the House while Wyoming has a grand total of 1.

The United States is not a democracy, it's a Constitutional Republic.

I applaud your effort (and agree with you 10,000%), but I assure you, it is wasted.  You really must know your audience before you can make an impact.

Haven’t you heard?  The electoral college is unfair and unconstitutional...

Hmrph...well...we do live in this Republic that was founded by a bunch of slave owning white guys who were intolerant of transgender issues.  So everything written in the Constitution is classified as hate speech and therefore null and void.  ~sarc~

The Blue Wave completely upended things down-ballot, too.

In Harris County, Texas (encompassing most of Houston), straight-ticket voting threw out all incumbent judges.

This includes the long-time County Judge, who was very popular and was respected by all.

He very ably led the disaster management and recovery efforts during Hurricane Harvey.

His replacement is a 27-year-old girl who has never even attended a Commissioners' Court meeting.  See:

https://www.houstonchronicle.com/politics/election/local/article/Hidalgo-surprise-victor-in-Harris-County-judge-13372415.php

Harris County is apparently the third-most populous county in the U.S.

Edited to add:  Many people wouldn't insult a dead fish by wrapping it in the Houston Chronicle.

What about Austin?

I believe it draws liberals from all over the country to move there, and being a college town I am sure it is already a liberal base there to start with.
