I think it is nice to come back together because the whole thing can be kind of daunting for the immigrant without someone to guide them through, especially if they haven't traveled here before.

Yeah; I grew up in Ohio and Wisconsin (hence irrational Packers fandom) and upstate New York (hence irrational Syracuse fandom 🍊). Just have gotten soft after 17 years in SoCal. :lol:

Which she hasn't, because getting a tourist visa from Russia is pretty difficult (and quite slow) these days.

You sound like my wife's friend complaining like that. They moved in to the neighborhood a few months back and being that my wife is the only other Filipino in the neighborhood they hit it off really good, so she is all the time coming by the house and complaining. She is our age(mid-30's) and her husband is in his 60's with 3 grown kids from a previous marriage. The children are coming over all the time, and the 2nd son who is autistic is currently living with them because he moved out of his group home. Also the husband is constantly paying for stuff for the two other grown children like $4k for a pet boarder for another son and $2k for his daughter to get last minute tickets to the Philippines even though she is a officer in the air force. 

So with all this going on in that household my wife's friend comes by to vent to my wife about everything. So it makes my wife feel better because she doesn't have all this going on in our house.
