K1 visa or ??? not sure Want to marry cuban girlfriend.

K-1 (fiance visa) is slightly faster to get the visa and enter the US.

CR-1 (spousal visa) is superior in every other way (faster green card, can work right away, can travel right away, cheaper, etc.).

Both routes require being a financial sponsor (K-1 non-binding initially but binding for AOS after entry on the visa, CR-1 is binding upon entry on the visa).

K1 is faster and more expensive.

CR1-IR1 is cheaper and takes from 11 months to 16 for an approval.

You sound very uncertain on marrying your girlfriend. If you're not feeling it, don't do it.

Keep in mind that K1 means your fiancee will come to the US and you must have to marry her within 90 days on her arrival to the US

Good luck..

Don't marry it if you are not ready. Visit more to make sure it's what both of you want is my suggestion.

I think the question is more about which path to take, not that OP isn't ready for marriage. I think his title should read, "K1 visa or??? Not sure, want to marry..". Sorry I am a writer and I know very well how much of a difference punctuation can make in terms of tone and meaning.

Anyway to the OP, it really depends on your circumstances. If you are concerned about fees, do CR1.

He does want to marry but he is just unsure about which visa to pursue. His title is a little misleading because I think he missed a comma. I think he meant to say, "Not sure, want to marry." Plus his post makes it clear he does want to marry.

People who are ready for marriage don't typically talk about/worry, "Someone said if you can marry abroad but if i go that route it will cost less but if the marriage dissolves i am responsible for her for many years." Can't read the OP's mind, just what is posted.

I met my girlfriend 1 year ago since then i have traveled to cuba twice and she is wonderful. I plan on going for a longer time probably 1 month and visit her in her home town as i have only met her in La Habana and only met her aunt who lives there. She is awesome but yes i have some reservations because it is a long distance relationship and because cuba has a really bad reputation for men and women scamming tourist and sometimes with there partners consent. It is very scary to think it could be false. thanks in advance for any and all advice really appreciate it.

1) He is questioning whether to marry her or not, he will know what he should do.

2) If the marriage dissolves i am responsible for her for many years - Again, he does not sound too convinced.

I'm going to point out one thing about your comment here - if the marriage dissolves i am responsible for her for many years

Regardless if you do the K1 or the CR1 the financial sponsorship applies to both. You will be filling for AOS once she arrives on a K1 and marries.

Sounds like you have serious doubts. Besides following the advice of some wise people on this site, you need to keep in mind that if you marry abroad and file, the CR1 involves an Affadavit of Support, which is a legally binding government contract that makes you responsible for her for approximately 10 years (40 quarters). Divorce will not relieve you of this contract. The only things that can do so are: if she completes 40 quarters of work, becomes a US citizen, returns to her country of origin, or her or your death.

This is a reminder of the seriousness of filing immigration papers with the US government.  If you have doubts, then wait until you are absolutely 100% certain beyond a shadow of a doubt.

Even though people don't like to hear it, with the K1 you get a 90 day " Try Before you Buy period" If things look bad after she gets here( You have 90 days), ship her out on the next flight out, and your responsibility ends as soon as the tires leave the runway. Cold and insensitive, Yes, but it is an option. I should mention once you marry this option is off the table.
