Dear VJ Users --

Just a quick question, are we allowed to bring our laptops, mobiles, USB drive into the building for our AOS interview??

I searched this information but most posts are from 2014 or older. I would like to have more recent information from VJ users who recently interviewed in Los Angeles office (300 N Los Angeles Street).

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!!

No. They do not allow electronics at all. Even myself they wouldn't allow electronics even though I am a Federal worker as well.

Thank you for both responses. One more questions, do they have a locker like at the embassy during initial interview or best to just leave electronic devices at home or car?

No, no locker sorry. It's best just to leave it.

Contrary to what others have said, yes, you can bring any of that stuff into the building. I've been there for non-USCIS work (there are numerous federal agencies in that building). That being said, I have no idea if you can bring any of those items into your interview, or what USCIS restricts itself. Also, you'll have to take any electronic items out of your bag and separate it from everything else when putting it through the x-ray machine. That includes your phone.

And no, there are no lockers there for you to use.

Also, be prepared for a long line to go through security. Sometimes there is a long line, sometimes there is no line.

Huh.... So...   I have all my files / documents printed out. I'm just worried that there's something that I did not print but need to present. What do you suggest I should do? Maybe just put EVERY file on my USB Drive and then if I ever need anything I'll just pull it out from the drive... I think that what I'd do.

THANK YOU.

Each office has their own rules. That said, all evidence you need should be brought with you in printed format. Do not expect an IO to look through any electronic device.

Funny story...my coworker brought an iPad with her to an interview for her daughter. When the IO started giving her a hard time, she brought out the iPad to show him her stuff. The IO instantly called out "How did you get that in here?! You're not allowed to have that here.". Luckily that was an adoption case where there's much less discretion involved...the IO was about to throw her out after the back and forth between them.

We had our AOS interview in July at the LA field office, no problem bringing our phones. We didn't use the phones for other things than some internet surfing while waiting to be called into the IO's office though, we obviously brought the phones with us into the office but kept them in our pockets.

The USCIS will not put your flash drive into one of their computers.  Don't bother.  If you can't print what you need, you do not need it.
