Hi everyone!

Called the NVC today and they've received our petition!  And the case number is assigned !!

I looked at the tracker, and got a little bit confused.

"Please follow the instructions you received from the National Visa Center (NVC) that list the six steps you must take before NVC can schedule your visa interview appointment. This includes submitting to NVC various fees, forms and documents. Once NVC has received all the required items, they will let you know if anything is missing or incomplete."

Could someone help me with a couple of questions I have:

  • The tracker links to this page here https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/immigrate/immigrant-process/approved/contact.html but these seem to be unfamiliar instructions (something about assigning an agent?). I'm assuming that these are bunk and relate to other visas, right? Ignore those instructions, they relate to other visas:)
  • I have the I-134 and the supporting evidence, the updated letter of intent, copy of the i-797 approval all ready.  Is it time to send it out? YES!  Should I be sending anything else? If you have anything to prove that you are making wedding plans, send it too.
  • When should we submit the DS-160? Should we wait until my fiance receives instructions from them or can we do it now? Check your embassy website to be sure, but you should be able to submit it now, just don't schedule any appointments before receiving instructions
  • Should we only schedule the doctor appointment once he gets instructions from the embassy? In many countries you can do it as soon as you get the case number, but again - check your embassy website:)
  • I know the fee for the DS-160 is $265.  Are there any other ones, aside from the doctor's fees, for the interview? No
  • What sorts of things will my fiance need to send to the embassy before we can schedule the interview, if anything?  I read in a couple of posts that you needed to send stuff away after you receive Packet 3? According to the info about Stockholm here - http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=Sweden&cty=Stockholm - you don't need to send anything, but I would look at their website to make sure.
  • Do you only need to go to the embassy for the interview or to come back later when the visa is ready?  Do they keep your passport until the visa is issued?  Do they mail you the visa?  (My fiance lives in Denmark, so the interview will be in Sweden -- we're wondering how long he'll need to stay in Stockholm to attend the interview process). I would ask some fellow Scandinavians http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/621862-scandinavians-part-2/

Thank you in advance!!

Wishing you all speedy wait times.

Good luck!

I am now in HCMC for the interview on Monday. We have all documents organized in a folder and hope all goes well. We feel confident and afraid at the same time...odd feelings.

We have more than triple-checked, but know things sometimes get left out. We will probably inventory everything again tomorrow.

Good luck!

Best wishes for a breezy interview.

Are you planning a POE with your fiancee?  or do you have to get back to the states soon after the interview?  Hopefully the CO will see you there and do a quick VOH for you to fly her home with you :D

@Marzena & Stephen is October 4th I believe. LOL There are quite a few VJers interviewing in Montreal that day. I will be in Montreal Oct 2nd as my medical is the 3rd. HA I should stand outside the consulate on the 4th waiting for them oh wait that sounds creepy. :P

Hey everyone,

I called NVC and was told im in administrative processing. Is this the normal status they tell people when you have been received and number given out before they transmit your application to the embassy?

Thanks for the info.
