I don't think that matters too much to be honest. Long as you have the most current one because usually when you renew Passport Canada wants the old one back or in my case they didn't get it as my previous expired one had been wrecked in a water leak in my apartment years ago. lol

Awww I was hoping you guys could do the 11th just cause that is my day. So far it looks like I am the only VJer that keeps a timeline anyway going that day. I really hope you get that police certificate soon. :) I am so happy to hear you guys finally have an interview date. YAY!!!!

In that case you'll be able to tell us how they handle it. I hope all goes smoothly for you!

We waffled about the 18th, the 11th was too early (it's only a bit more than two weeks away) as we still need to figure out medical and if Ireland doesn't deliver we wouldn't be able to fix it in time.

Because of where I live, pets can't be transported here until after 11/1, so we knew her arrival would be after that date. 10/25 works out well enough to get the visa in hand by 11/2 or so.

We will breathe a sigh of relief when this is over. We're both worrying about things like failing medical, no-show documents etc etc.

It seems silly, but we are dealing with a government that's asking a 28yo Canadian citizen if she was a member of the Nazi party from 1943-1945, so I like having the I's dotted and the T's crossed.

Ah your lease can't be renewed until then adding in the pets as well I take it? Chris just sent in his lease renewal paying the extra 50 bucks to add me to the lease and 200 for my cat. LOL Least he knows my kitty is important to me. She is 12 years old. I have had her since she was 7 weeks old.

Seriously that is the stupidest thing I ever heard. *scratches head* but yeah I can understand that for sure.

Ugh yeah this whole process is anxiety nightmare for sure. I am not worried bout medical the guy at Medisys in Montreal told me its a piece of cake. LOL Although medically I am fine with the only thing not great is that I am quite overweight although I have lost 20lbs this summer and still working on it. :D My doctor here just told me I was fit as a fiddle and that yes I needed to lose weight but I was in much better shape than many of her normal sized patients. Nice to hear that. The only thing I have is some and I can't remember what it is exactly but because of it I cannot have children as if I was to try my child has a 90 percent chance of not living. Good thing is at 39 years old I was not planning on having kids. LOL Kids were never in my future. Plus my fiance Chris has 5 children. lol

the last of my documents showed up yesterday and those were the ones Chris sent me. So I just need to make photocopies and I am ready for my interview on the 11th.

It's entirely about the temperatures in my city -- the airlines literally wont accept pets for travel until after 11/1.

We have every document in hand but the Irish police certificate. We started the process early -- actually well before our lawyer did (we figured out when she started asking for the information and let him know we'd already started -- had we waited for him we probably wouldn't have had all the documents until November!)

Ooh that was my next guess because I just remembered where you live. I went to nursery school in Phoenix before we moved back to Canada. lol My sister is driving me to Rapid City, SD and Chris will meet us there on the 28th of October. Then on the 29th we will head to Colorado Springs and my sister will head back to Canada. I had planned on flying but then my sister said Bec I will drive you and charge you only 50 bucks. I said SOLD hahahaha. This way I can take all my junk, I mean wonderful stuff I am sure I need. LOL

I am glad you guys started early because man this waiting is hard stuff.

We scheduled the interview today! 10/25. Canada still have 10/11 and 10/18 open as well, but because we're unsure about the Irish police certificate, we scheduled later just in case.

We've got a new question -- fiancee had to renew her passport since it'd have expired during the process -- and she did not keep the old passport.

The instructions from the consulate say they want the all previous passports.

Anyone deal with this?

Congrats on finally getting an interview date!  Different consulate but the previous passport thing was on our instructions as well and my fiancé didn't have it.  Didn't come up at the interview.

I renewed my passport during this process and they DID NOT ask for my old one in a Montreal (I had kept it just incase).  When I started all the Montreal paperwork though, I already had my new one, so they only had that one number.  (We filed the I129 in mid- February, I renewed my passport in March and had my interview in August to give you an idea of where I was in the process when it happened)

It really is. We were OK at the start but we're going to be past 10 months before this is done. The lawyer stuff hasn't helped.

This is exactly what happened with us -- we realized her passport would be less than six months to expiration when the interview happened, so the number changed -- but before the DS-160 so I don't think that part was an issue. Glad to hear providing the old one doesn't seem to be required, especially since the new one was caused by them!

Not only is the interview scheduled today, I got informed that the medical is scheduled as well! She opted to schedule the medical in Montreal, and is going to take a small vacation with mom there while waiting between medical and interview.

If all goes well, six weeks from now she'll have done POE and we'll be together finally.

Hi everyone!

Called the NVC today and they've received our petition!  And the case number is assigned !!

I looked at the tracker, and got a little bit confused.

"Please follow the instructions you received from the National Visa Center (NVC) that list the six steps you must take before NVC can schedule your visa interview appointment. This includes submitting to NVC various fees, forms and documents. Once NVC has received all the required items, they will let you know if anything is missing or incomplete."

Could someone help me with a couple of questions I have:

  • The tracker links to this page here https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/immigrate/immigrant-process/approved/contact.html but these seem to be unfamiliar instructions (something about assigning an agent?). I'm assuming that these are bunk and relate to other visas, right?
  • I have the I-134 and the supporting evidence, the updated letter of intent, copy of the i-797 approval all ready.  Is it time to send it out?  Should I be sending anything else?
  • When should we submit the DS-160? Should we wait until my fiance receives instructions from them or can we do it now?
  • Should we only schedule the doctor appointment once he gets instructions from the embassy?
  • I know the fee for the DS-160 is $265.  Are there any other ones, aside from the doctor's fees, for the interview?
  • What sorts of things will my fiance need to send to the embassy before we can schedule the interview, if anything?  I read in a couple of posts that you needed to send stuff away after you receive Packet 3?
  • Do you only need to go to the embassy for the interview or to come back later when the visa is ready?  Do they keep your passport until the visa is issued?  Do they mail you the visa?  (My fiance lives in Denmark, so the interview will be in Sweden -- we're wondering how long he'll need to stay in Stockholm to attend the interview process).

Thank you in advance!!

Wishing you all speedy wait times.

October 20th :) Having a whole month after the interview gives me a lot of peace of mind on this. My fiance needed to give a month notice for vacation, so he did that as soon as we had the date for the interview. He's coming the 8th and then we'll fly home together. Everything seemed to fit perfectly, so hopefully it will work out equally perfectly.

Do you have a date already? Those always have the potential to make us anxious with the administrative waiting :P

That sounds so nice, getting to fly home together   POE for us will be October 9th.  Ticket is already purchased, so I definitely hope we don't run into any issues with their lovely "administrative processing"
