My sister and bro and law wanted myself and my husband to do this so bad.

At the end of the day, we're too normal for the show. Known each other for a couple ofyears before dating, spent about 3 years dating before marriage. We didn't lead a particularly exciting life and we didn't really have any cultural differences. The transition from fiance to marriage was... almost non-existant, it's like we've been living with each other for ever. The only "quirk" we have, is that I still have a good friendship relationship (for the most part) with my ex-husband, and my daughter has special needs.

I wouldn't have ever put my daughter through that though, cameras scare her anyways, -THAT- many cameras. Oh lord no. Not for millions of dollars.

Some of the people who were on the show say they were the subject of bullying online. They say it was really difficult.

It was on TV yesterday and I always read Twitter during the show. It's horrifying how many people are bullying the fiances over tweets (mean tweets, name-calling tweets, attacking, etc etc) It's whatever you feel like you can deal with.

I think the shows sets them up with Twitter accounts if they don't have one and "encourages" them to use it. I saw something that that effect on Nicoles Twitter regarding how Azan was just getting on twitter.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was written in the contract that you have to support the show thru social media.

I'm mystified why anyone would want to do that show, especially for the small amount of money they seem to be offering.

The earlier series were interesting but now they seem to pick the most bizarre people/relationships - good tv if you are a voyeur but totally misrepresents most k1s. I think its quite a negative thing for the k1 - they portray it as a load of misguided, gullible and desperate Americans, a load of foreigners obsessed with getting a green card, and with major culture clashes. There is a reason they don't feature Brits, Canadians, Aussies, Kiwis, Irish, etc. We're all far too boring.

Also they portray that the visa is a kind of 90 day "try before you buy" whilst in reality the whole idea of the k1 is that you've already made a decision to marry, not that you make the decision in the 90 days. Lost count of the number of times I've had to explain this to people when they find out about how I ended up in the US and mention they've seen the show.

I think the show would be more interesting and educational if they featured on more normal couples, and showed how the process worked (perhaps showing some behind the scenes stuff at USCIS) - but I guess for people who haven't been through k1, they'd prefer the current format.

Actually, I think in some ways it's good to raise awareness on immigration romance scams. If people watched this show and knew what to look for, then we'd have less victims ready to be scammed.... Maybe.
