What in the ever loving heck would hemorrhoids have to do with immigration? No they don't check people's anuses for hemorrhoids.

They didn't check for these on me, but note that hemorrhoids can be indicative of other serious illnesses.

On my medical the doctor quickly checked my "man zone" but also poked my abdomen quite a bit. I asked (purely out of interest) what she was looking for, and she said organs that are swollen inside, as well as my reaction - if I reacted in pain that would warrant further examination. They aren't just looking for communicable diseases that you might spread.

Or they can be indicative of nothing, which is most likely. They can be caused by holding your breath while you do something hard or just being obese or pregnant. ####### bleeding can mean something else, but hemorrhoids? Generally not. http://www.webmd.com/digestive-disorders/tc/understanding-hemorrhoids-basics

Lol. Cmon now.

Dont stand up for genital checks. They're completely unnecessary unless proven otherwise. At least for immigration. This isnt a full physical.

As I recall they checked mine. Was a lady doctor (I'm a male). Didn't bother me - they are doctors, they see these things all the time.

Fortunately my privates were intact and I passed the medical.

Q58. Are pelvic exams, pap smears, and gonorrhea and chlamydia tests recommended as part of the immigration medical exam?

A58. Yes. The CDC’s Technical Instructions specify that the medical examination must include a physical examination that includes, at a minimum an examination of the eyes, ears, nose and throat, 16 extremities, heart, lungs, abdomen, lymph nodes, skin and external genitalia.

An inspection of the external genital area is required because several STDs are included among the medical conditions that may make an individual inadmissible to the United States

Yes the PHYSICIAN does check the genitalia. This is a physical exam nothing more nothing less. It is an optional procedure and you dont need to have it done. Then you wont get the Visa to come here...getting the visa is optional as well.

I know of an African man who freaked out because a physician touched his ####### during the exam (or maybe to see if he had testicular cancer..I dont know)

Let's say hypothetically that the American partner had yet to see the genitalia (perhaps they haven't engaged in relations, etc.) and when the immigrant arrived they were not the gender they represented themselves as. Gay marriage or not, it is a way to discover whether the person is telling the truth about their gender.

Except that the medical is private. Not even the immigrant sees the "results."

Would a doctor not be obliged to provide the correct gender to the embassy?

So I am not a prude about nakedness and I don't care if the doctor has to check. I just find the whole concept of it all just ridiculous.

It isn't like the doctor is going to call the petitioner and be like "you know he's got a #######/#######? (uhh that was right words for male genitalia / female genitalia) You are on the same page about the genitalia that this person has.OK great."

Also, the passport has the gender on it and why do they need to make sure you are the gender you say you are, does it really change anything with the visa progress? Isn't it technically supposed to be same no matter what gender?

And I find it odd that the Scandinavian countries have stopped (which is good) but not UK.

So? Unless you look at their passport you wont know. Im not even sure their genetic gender matters for a passport or visa?

It's no ones fault but your own of you're unaware of your spouse's or potential spouse's genetic or identifying gender, if it matters. I dont care about culture or religion on this either. It's the 21st century where you can be any gender or sexuality you choose. This should not be an issue for an immigration medical.

Most people only have the xrays and the part about vaccinations.
