Once you receive your marriage certificate, go to the nearest SSA office and get it done by yourself.

Get it yourself. Way better than waiting for them to do it.

bobobobobo reacted to Kai G. Llewellyn in Need advice- should I extend my visitor permit?
I'm surprised that Montreal accepted your case if you're on visitor status in Canada. Usually they want proof of Canadian Citizenship, Canadian PR or work/study permit to accept your case.
Regardless, there is no harm in applying for a visitor record. They take 6 months-ish to get and during that time you're on implied status (effectively a de facto extension) and the cost is minimal. Explain you're waiting on a visa from the US and show documentary proof, I don't think IRCC will have a problem with it unless you've been in Canada a looooong time.

Well it has finally happened, pressing back on the law firm got a lawyer to talk to me and she was able to get the US attorney to lean on the consulate to send me--at long last!--the request for medical, a new RCMP certificate, new passport photos and my passport, and to resubmit the DS-260 (for no described reason).
This can be considered positive movement. However, the court deadline is Jan 14 and this stuff cannot be done by that date, so the lawyers are going to have to negotiate something with US attorney to allow more time.

bobobobobo reacted to martinzl in citizenship interview passed
Just wanted to post that my wife passed her citizenship interview today. Waiting for word on the oath ceremony. She studied hard reviewing the questions and watching You Tube videos. Been quite a journey and I am very thankful for the visajourney forum for helping us along the way.

Hi all-
I’m looking for anyone in a similar situation. My husband was denied at his interview in June of 2022 at the Consulate in Montreal. We received the dreaded ds5535 and submitted just days after our interview. Our case is still reading as refused and in administrative processing. We are so frustrated and overwhelmingly exhausted. My husband is separated from our children and we living apart. Looking for hope!
