  1. What you saw is correct. When you input your receipt date it shows you when you can submit an inquiry for outside processing time which is the upper limit of the processing time (15.5 months in this case).
  2. ~~ Topic moved from DCF forum to What Visa Do I need ~~ Why would it be illegitimate….? They issue marriage certificates that are as valid as any other marriage certificates you obtain. All you have to do is show you saw each other after the ceremony (ie consummated the marriage).
  3. Police certificates are required for both CR1 and K1. I know a lot of foreigners struggled to obtain them, they had to hire an agency to retrieve them and they would charge up to 1000$ for that service, you can search for those threads on VJ. Not sure if it’s easier as she’s a citizen of China, she might want to contact the Chinese embassy and inquire.

  5. And as a “fun” fact, it takes only minutes to adjudicate applications. As an example, “According to USCIS, it takes 97.8 minutes to adjudicate an I‑485. It takes 15 minutes to process an advance parole document and 12 minutes to adjudicate an EAD”. Processing times for EAD is 8-13 months, AP is 9-15 months and in some cases it takes up to 2 years for I-485. So there’s that source: https://www.cato.org/blog/eight-ideas-speed-green-card-processing
  6. ~~ Topic moved from CR1/IR1 Process to Progress Reports ~~ It means it’s sitting there in a pile of other applications waiting for someone to get to it and look at it and either issue RFE/deny/approve it
  7. Tourist visa is for visiting the US as a tourist and doing tourist activities, not living here and giving birth. If you want to be together while your partner is pregnant, I’d advise you to first complete the immigration process. That way you 100% can be together for the pregnancy.
  8. Since I-134 is used for other non immigrant visas, a lot of the questions won’t be applicable for K1s. When we completed it, we just put N/A and no questions were asked at the interview.
  9. It does make you eligible but the petitioner has to live in the US or show intentions to relocate. That’s how it is. Usually, petitioners move to the US before the interview to reestablish domicile in order for the beneficiary to receive their visa. So how did you imagine getting a green card (which is intended to live permanently in the US) while your wife is planning to work in Korea for the the next two years? Were you going to live separately/long distance? Or you wanted to go back to Korea after activating your LPR status to live there with your wife…? That beats the purpose of getting a GC if you’re not planning to live in the US.
  10. No, you don’t need it with the petition. Have you looked at the list of required documents on USCIS.gov?
  11. ~~ Topic moved from K1 Progress Reports to Process ~~ Your timeline isn’t completed so no idea where you are in the process. If you’re just mailing out the petition now, I-134 is not in the list of required documents. It’s required for the beneficiary to bring to the interview.
  12. You can do that and start the process for CR1 visa. You will get a green card after your arrival in the US with a CR1 visa.
  13. Not sure where you got that information but that is no longer the case. 13 months for petition approval alone, not counting NVC wait and consulate stage.
  14. You’re overthinking. I have left many more boxes blank after putting N/A only in the first two lines. Both I-129f and I-485 approved.
  15. Anywhere from 12-24 months. But it’s less paperwork as opposed to doing K1 and then having to do adjustment of status once in the states. Also due to backlogs K1 lost the speediness advantage a long time ago
  16. ~~ Topic moved from Work Visas to Working & Traveling during US Immigration where EAD related questions are discussed ~~
  17. ~~ Topic moved from CR1/IR1 Progress Reports to Process ~~ You should go for CR1, it’s much more superior to K1 (this is coming from someone who did K1). As Lil Bear mentioned, many have successfully gone through CR1 after previous K1.
