  6. ~~ Topic moved from Off Topic to CR1/IR1 forum ~~ You can’t do much right now, he is the one who has to petition you. Tell him to read this guide below, he files I-130 to allow you to apply for a CR1 or IR1 (depending on how long you’ve been married) visa at the US consulate in Brazil:
  7. Yes it is. I think it would be best for you to first secure a student or work visa before you worry about this.
  8. Don’t see an issue as getting married is typically the next step after a K1 denial
  9. Fewer that 1% of Muslim men live with more than one spouse in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Iran and Egypt so I don’t see how this is relevant. https://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2020/12/07/polygamy-is-rare-around-the-world-and-mostly-confined-to-a-few-regions/
  10. ~~ Topic moved from AOS K1 forum to Removal of Conditions forum as this is no longer AOS ~~
  11. No, that is not possible. For the record, you can’t “get” her a tourist visa. She has to get a tourist visa on her own merits and by presenting strong ties that would compel her to return to Nigeria. Current wait time for a tourist visa in US consulate in Abuja is 850 days and Lagos 760 days.
  12. It’s the immigrant’s responsibility to make sure his documentation is correct and in case it’s not, get it corrected if there’s an error. At N400 they will look in depth at the history and dates and see that they’re not eligible for citizenship because they have not become a resident in August 2020. And why pay almost $600 and most likely wait 2-3 years when you can get a 10 year card for free in less time than that?
  13. Well, that would have been a very helpful bit of information to provide in the first place. Average processing time for I-90 is 15 months.
  14. That’s what I meant by second interview. File I-90 for free to receive a correct 10 year GC. You don’t want to deal with ROC
  15. When did you have your second interview? Were you married for 2 or more years when received your approval?
  16. It is an option legally as it seems from your post that you did not have an intention to adjust status prior to coming to the US. Also, you don’t need to file a new I-130, you just need to attach a copy of NOA1 for I-130 when you file the I-485.
  17. I’m a bit stumped on why someone would do AOS when finances seem to be an issue. You won’t be able to work for many months to come, it just doesn’t make sense to me personally how lack of finances is the reason to adjust status. But you’re free to do as you wish, good luck on your journey. There are immigration guides here on VJ that explain step by step process for your situation
  18. ~~ Topic moved from IR1/CR1 Progress Reports to Progress ~~ As far as I understand, you will need to change your name in your passport in Colombia. When you get to NVC, you will update and use your new married name from then on, it shouldn’t be an issue. It’s actually much easier to have it changed now than deal with it once you’re in the US.
