  1. I’m sorry but nobody here can predict if your case encounters any issues down the line that might require some digging in any old documents you have submitted. In my opinion, immigration can be unpredictable. I also do not know what kind of documents you have, if you have a lot of ‘fluff’ that people submit such as endless pages of chats, then I would purge those. If that answer does not satisfy you, then by all means you can do what makes you comfortable, i.e. shredding everything.
  2. ~~ Topic moved from ROC forum to General Immigration discussion as the question is general rather than specific to ROC process ~~ Are you not planning to naturalize? Even if you’re not, I don’t think I would ever shred all this paperwork. You never know when you might need it.
  3. That’s impossible to answer, it’s different for everyone. There is no average
  4. K1 applicants are required to bring police certificates to the interview from any countries they have lived in for 6 or more months (starting from the age of 16)
  5. Other than possibly having to get a police certificate from Canada and most likely waiting longer for an interview if she switches to the US consulate in Canada, it would not ‘interfere’ (actually not sure what that means, I assume you’re asking if it would have any negative consequences on a K1 process).
  6. There’s nothing much you can do to help him, he will need to apply on his own merits. There is no sponsorship or anything like that for a visitor visa. Not a factor in tourist visa applications.
  7. ~~ Duplicate thread removed. Please don’t start multiple threads asking same/related questions. Thank you. ~~
  8. It seems so, yes. However current wait times for a visitor visa appointment in Mexico are extremely long
  9. She needs to renew her passport. The US consulate will not issue a visa on a near expired passport per their policy Passport valid for travel to the United States – Your passport must be valid for at least six months beyond your period of stay in the United States (unless exempt by country-specific agreements). Each individual who needs a visa must submit a separate application, including any family members listed in your passport. https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/tourism-visit/visitor.html EDIT: there is an exception for Mexico which states that it doesn’t need to be valid for 6 months beyond the period of stay but it still needs to be valid for the duration of the stay “Visitors traveling to the U.S. are required to be in possession of passports that are valid for six months beyond the period of their intended stay in the U.S. Citizens of the countries listed below are exempt from the six- month rule and need only have a passport valid for their intended period of stay” https://www.cbp.gov/document/bulletins/six-month-club-update
  10. ~~ Topic moved from CR1/IR1 process to Progress Reports ~~ Also keep in mind that actual approval is when you see “Issued” as a status.
  11. I’m sorry but nobody will be able to answer that. Seems to me like a generic response. All you can do is wait
  12. Good luck and don’t hesitate to ask more questions as they come
  13. @Villanelle is correct, if you look at I-824 instructions it indicates several reasons one would file and yes, your falls under #5 on that list. We often see very poor advice coming from attorneys here. If they don’t know basic information like that (that I-824 is not just for lost notices), I would certainly not retain them.
  14. ~~ Duplicate thread removed. Please do not start multiple threads asking same or related questions as that’s considered spamming ~~ As indicated in their email to you, it won’t be sent automatically to NVC. You need to file I-824 to get them to do that
  15. I see, I hope it goes/went smoothly and they make it to their flight. Keep us posted
  16. Hey, I just saw this. Almaty is very fast in issuing visas, I picked up mine the very next day after the interview. But I’m a KZ citizen, not sure how long is takes non-residents. Were you able to get the visa? I hope everything worked out!
  17. ~~ Duplicate thread removed. Please do not start multiple threads asking same or related questions. If you wish your topic to be moved to a correct section, simply hit the report button and one of the mods will do it. Just an FYI ~~
  18. ~~ Topic moved from K1 forum to AOS K1 as the K1 process is over ~~ Photocopy is fine.
  19. ~~ Topic moved from Bringing Family of US citizens to Tourist visas as the question is about obtaining a tourist visa rather than an immigrant visa ~~
  20. ~~ Duplicate thread removed. @Josh orPlease do not start multiple threads asking same or related questions ~~
