For me: 4 weeks from in processing to approved with 10 days total for shipping.
I’ve seen some postings showing approval within 3 weeks

This is my 10 year old’s tactic…throw out some spurious rambling pulled out of thin air. Get asked on validity but push back on me “no! You prove that I’m wrong”

Something like 97-99% of people dying now from covid are unvaccinated. I think that says something about the vaccinated..
I like you.

El Escocés reacted to Scandi in 2020/ 21- US Passport & Card Application-Tracker
At the Boston agency it only took 2 business days for me to receive the certificate after receiving the passport back in May.
No, it's only sent in a regular manilla envelope. So if you happen to be home during the time of the day your mailman usually comes by, meet him at the mailbox before he folds the envelope to fit in it.

El Escocés reacted to Crazy Cat in American / Australian living in Thailand: K-1 or CR-1? Relocate to Mexico?
Please allow me to throw this out there.
Every couple has their own priorities, and each couple must decide which visa is better for their situation.
K-1
More expensive than CR-1
Requires Adjustment of Status after marriage (expensive and requires a lot of paperwork)
Spouse can not leave the US until she/he receives approved Advance Parole (approx 6-8 months)
Spouse can not work until she/he receives EAD (approx 6-8 months)
Some people have had problems with driver licenses, Social Security cards, leases, bank account during this period
Spouse will not receive Green Card for many months after Adjustment of Status is filed.
A denied K-1 is sent back to USCIS to expire
CR-1
Less expensive than K-1
No Adjustment of Status(I-485, I-131, I-765) required.
Spouse can immediately travel outside the US
Spouse is authorized to work immediately upon arrival.
Spouse receives Social Security Card and Green Card within 2 or 3 weeks after entering the US
Opening a bank account, getting a driver's license, etc. are very easily accomplished with GC, SS card, and passport.
Spouse has legal permanent Resident status IMMEDIATELY upon entry to US.

I read your post and it is good that you are asking these questions and you seem open to opinions and understandings of immigration. But there are some realizations you may have to come to terms with.
First, immigration is not fast, easy, nor cheap. So, while you are researching timelines, also research the requirements and overall costs. Sometimes, the length of the process is reasonable (1 year). But other times it is painfully long.
Second, and I know this is not what you want to hear, separation may be inevitable. Not saying that it is impossible to go through the process without being separated. It is just that the vast majority of cases, the loved ones are separated at some part of the process. Many of us have accepted this a realization with immigration. Your case may be different. You can plan on doing things to limit your separation, but be prepared for it just in case.
Lastly, continue to research as much as possible. The information is plentiful and easily accessible (you have the internet you can find it). We have guides on every aspect of the process you can review. I always advise to study every step of the process all the way to end (citizenship). It cost nothing to learn the processes, and all the information is here and on other sites like the official USCIS website.

If you have any further questions, feel free to ask and welcome to the forum.

My husband sent this to me the other day. Swindon, I am told, is a place very much like hell and this the Magic Roundabout is one of its levels.

From what I’ve seen, it’s regular mail and the note that I received along with my passport said 10-14 days after receiving the passport

El Escocés reacted to M&D2021 in Heavy handed mods
People have a choice whether to respond or not. If they feel it is a waste of time, then they should not waste said time by responding. In any case, this example that I selected is probably not the best one but I have seen what I consider a heavy handed approach by some mods on a number of posts. This just happened to be the one that led me to create this post. If the mod response was canned, then perhaps the mods need to change their canned responses because I do not appreciate being told to "not restart or refer back to this thread in any shape or form". If I want to do so for a reason that I feel is valid, then that is my choice, as long as I am not breaking the TOS of VJ.

El Escocés reacted to moxy in Heavy handed mods
For example, over in the Current Events and Hot Social Topics forum, back in April am moderator just up and decided that, effectively, you cannot criticize the source of an article or other news source. (for example, if the basis behind a post is a link to a far-right or far-left website, you can't use that as a basis to argue against the post's topic) Or at least that's my take and others' takes, because we can't actually ask for, or receive an explanation for the action. Members are not allowed to discuss a moderator action in the open, and some moderators will not explain their actions, even in PM.
So the environment that's been created over the years is that some mods take actions based on some nebulous criteria, and members are cut off from understanding those actions. And so in the Current Events forum at least, there is a tacit understanding that criticizing sources is verboten, and will possibly result in moderator action, or possibly not. Who knows. In any case, it's action that has been seemingly taken, despite not being against the TOS.
And just so we're clear, Hashtag notallmods

Hi, thought id share.

Still waiting for the naturalization certificate back and for the passport card (got it so i could give it to SSA), but at least the passport it here.

El Escocés reacted to bashray in Wife's Baltimore field office N400 interview experience
My wife had her citizenship interview today at Baltimore field office. We arrived 30 minutes before the interview time. She went in the building 15 minutes before the interview time.
It was straight forward, she is now waiting for judicial oath ceremony as she wanted to change her name by adding her maiden name as middle name.
Officer was pleasant, since my wife is tax professional he started chit chatting with her about tax and her company (he used to be a tax accountant himself)
She was asked the following six questions:
Senator names States bordering Mexico What is capital of USA Year of writing of declaration of independence How many senators in senate Where is statue of liberty After that she was ask to read "what is the capital of USA" she wrote the answer on iPad
Then officer just went quickly through her application (yes and no) questions. She brought with her our child birth certificate, marriage certificate, passports and green card. No documents were asked by the officer. She will be providing her GC to judge during judicial oath ceremony and name change.
I will be going for my interview next week. Will provide my experience after it.
Also Baltimore office is doing same day oath ceremony.
Hope this help.

El Escocés reacted to debbiedoo in My wife reported me to USCIS
your wife can SAY anything she wants but without PROOF it really means nothing, other than a massive headache for you. Presumably, you have proven, several times over, that you are divorced from your ex wife.
if I were you, I would also be divorcing the current wife. But that is me.
