Eladnolnod reacted to R1CH1991 in London CR1 / IR1 Appointment Updates
I was a regular reader of the last London thread to keep myself updated with current timelines etc before it went to 70+ pages and way off topic.
I thought it was such a useful resource so I’ve decided to start the ball rolling again so we can keep each other updated on news as it comes in.
To kick us off, me and my wife were DQ 10th July so we’re hoping to get our interview appointment email early November. It appears June DQ dates have been scheduled so hoping this is our time after literally years of waiting.
Fingers crossed for no Tier 3 lockdown in London!

Had my interview this morning, and approved!
The only thing they asked me for was passport, 1 passport photo, original birth cert, original police cert, original marriage cert and courier confirmation email. My medical was on Monday so I was surprised to hear it had arrived by this morning and they didn't mention anything about results (I did a drug screen so expected questions). We also used a joint sponsor but they didn't ask us for any documents regarding finances. The only questions they asked were how did we come to meet, when did we first meet face to face, if I had met my joint sponsor, when I was planning to move and why we chose to move to the US instead of my wife come to the UK.
Feels like such a giant weight has been lifted ❤️ Good luck everyone.

Had my interview today and was approved (woohoo.) Just wondering, tracking my case going to issued is that going to be through the ceac status check? It still says Ready instead of AP or Issued.
And courier info, will I get an email when its at the depot?

Hello people, looks like our expedite was approved!!! We talked about our emotional hardship and financial hardship... I recommend everyone else try to expedite. It took from the 28th to the 4th September to hear back.
I am hoping for an October interview date. What I do now? Wait until I get another email from the NVC?? What more fees are there to pay aside from the medical!!! I am shaking in excitement.

Well they just received our expedite request today... so now just awaiting an answer. I know my argument wasn't the strongest but I'm kind of getting my hopes up now. Just gotta try to keep them low lol

Visa medical went smooth. About 40mins. The worst is getting naked down to your underwear lol. There was a few others in there US bound around 2:30 - 3.
they said they’ll inform me directly if there are any issues otherwise no news is good news. They also took a digital photo of me.
anyone looking for a tasty treat, Ole & steen have lots of tasty goodness. Danish bakery.
straight forward and polite.

Hey guys, had my interview on Monday and was approved. I knew it was starting out well when I met someone from VisaJourney sitting outside the embassy waiting for his wife. So we had a good chat before I went in. Honestly I was excited for the interview.
There were very few people inside the embassy, both from a staff perspective and visa applicants. It was easy to find the right waiting area, which was smaller than I had expected. There were staff at three windows and about 5 people waiting. The only thing that made me a little nervous was the fact you can hear everyones conversations at the windows, so I knew everyone would hear my answers as well - but really it was fine.
Firstly I was called up to one window where I the documents that were asked for:
- DS260 Confirmation page
- Affidavit of Support from my wife, and one from my joint sponsor (+ tax returns).
- Passport
- My Birth Certificate
- Marriage Certificate
- ACRO Police check
- One photo
The chap also asked for the courier confirmation page, which I had embarrassingly forgotten, he was super chill about that and told me he'd print another one out for me no problem.
I came with a huge folder that had all sorts of stuff, but none of it was asked for. I didn't have to prove my wife's intentions to reestablish domicile in the US. I didn't have to provide any copies of any form of I.D. for my joint sponsor.
Once the documents were submitted to the office for review, I was called up 10 minutes later. I figured they needed to ask me for more documents or maybe there was an issue with one of them, but when I went to the window, the friendly officer (that looked and sounded quite like Ben Shapiro) asked me how I was doing and proceeded to ask me how my wife and I met, and when and why we decided to move to the US. He joked about how I asked my wife to marry me in a helicopter above the city that we're moving to, and we had a bit of a laugh together, it was really quite relaxed. After those questions, he closed the folder of documents and said "Right, that's all done, you should expect your visa in about two weeks". I couldn't believe how fast and efficient the process was, and I was so excited that I forgot about how much money we had wasted getting all sorts of documents and letters etc shipped from the US.
Good luck to those of you who are waiting. You'll be there soon, and hopefully they'll treat you as well as they treated me.

Interview today in Amsterdam, successful other than refusal for the medical not in the system yet ( 2 full weeks after the exam).
Frustrating, but done.
Experience was as most have said, very quick in and out, just a few basic questions about our relationship.
Good luck to everyone else!

My husband just had his interview, his medical has not arrived yet but otherwise he is approved! Btw, we did not bring a DS5540, and they did not ask for one, due to the current court block on the 2019 DOS public charge criteria

I replied to your email Catherine.
All I know is I definitely uploaded to NVC so they should of had it, the CO gave me no instructions where to send so I just went on the same website you use to book the appointment and used the option 'consular section instructed me to send more documents'. Since he gave you instructions where to upload maybe you don't need to do this, all I can say is it worked.
You will be fine though the hard part is done 🙂
Check your status here:

This happened to me and they also said the issue was on the embassy side.
Don’t worry too much, I had my interview last thursday, went from refused to administrative processing a few hours after the interview (assume they found my medical) and to issued today - awaiting delivery tomorrow.
once they have everything it should be pretty fast, you’re almost there... try not to stress too much! 😊

Morning all,
had my interview this morning and received 221(g) for my medical results - but the officer said everything was good otherwise and once received they will issue the visa.
The whole process was painless and I’ll get a review up later today.
For what it’s worth, I had my medical on the 7th and Visa Medicals confirmed on Monday that it was sent to the embassy on the 12th... apparently the issue is on the embassy side and they just sent over PDF copies via e-mail for those that the embassy didn’t have.
CEAC says refused at the moment but will keep an eye on it over the next few days!

Eladnolnod reacted to laylalex in U.K. folks in LA? Want friends!
Really, really recommend people scheduling appointments with the DMVs in the LA area to do it sooner rather than later, because it is a nightmare even in normal non-COVID19 times to get an appointment!
And hellooooooo from Santa Monica! Socially distanced, of course.

My husband attended his interview at the London Embassy today and our visa is officially approved! It feels very surreal, apparently he was in and out of the embassy within 30 minutes and the interview portion only lasted about 5 minutes! I haven't gotten all of the details as he was desperate to get out of the city but he did tell me the questions they asked him:
When did you meet? How did you meet? How often have you visited each other? Why did you decide to get married? Have you considered what you'll do for work in the US? Are you looking forward to living in Delaware? At first the officer asked him about me living in Connecticut but I have never even visited that state, much less lived there. Not sure if the officer was confused about Delaware being its own state (which wouldn't surprise me, most people only know about Delaware from Wayne's World) or if this was to test my husband's knowledge of where I live.

I just paid the IV fee online after getting my passport back. I didn't get a slip with details about how to pay the IV fee. I just went to https://my.uscis.gov/uscis-immigrant-fee, entered my A-Number (Registration Number on the visa) and DOS Case ID (IV Case Number on the visa) and followed the instructions on the site from there.
My flight is booked for September 25th to El Paso via Dallas FW, leaving from London Heathrow. If anyone else happens to be leaving from Heathrow that day drop me a message and we can rant about how stressful this process is while we wait for our flights 😂
I can barely believe I'm typing this, but after nearly two years since our NOA1, I can actually say WE'RE DONE with the IR1 process!
I honestly would've made a 100 more mistakes than I already did without the lovely, helpful and supportive members on this site 💙
Now I can relax for a few years before having to worry about naturalisation 😪🤣
