Hi all,

Had my CR-1 Visa apt today which went well. Told would be approved once they received the medical (which Visa Medical tells me was sent electronically last week so they now need to send in the post - nightmare!) and also wanted me to upload my husbands W2 - the officer reviewed this in person today and it was fine but he told me to upload and gave me instructions to do so.

I’m back at work and went to upload but it’s the same NVC website! Where the exact same W2 is! So I’ve re-uploaded.

Has anyone else had this issue? It’s just more stress when it should of been a straight approval today... so frustrating. I tried phoning the embassy but was told there was no one I could talk to!

Thank you in advance!

Many people think they get approval the same day, then walk out of the interview with their visa in hand......it doesn't work like that.  All cases go through some form of administrative processing and review.  For some cases, it only takes a few hours.....others longer.   I suggest you watch the CEAC status to change to "Issued"....good luck.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

The only reason I am so anxious and confussed is that I was asked to upload the W2 to a place where it already is, has been received and accepted.

I am now reading of others who had to courier theirs, but the officer didn’t tell me to do this today. I am so stressed out☹️

That has been true for years.

 Yes.

I re-uploaded the W2 to the NVC website as instructed and also emailed it to the e-mail address at the top right hand corner of the 221(g) sheet. Was not advised to courier. Do you think this is correct? Thank you.

I have a question for you. When you were told to upload a W2, did you tell them it was already uploaded and to look for it?

I didn’t specifically tell them to look for it - but I did say it was already uploaded and handed him a copy to review there and then.

I’ve looked at older, archived threads for the same issue on this forum and others have emailed with success.

Fingers crossed!

Now that’s weird. If you showed them a copy of the W2 there and then, why wasn’t that enough? An emailed or uploaded copy would be the same thing you had with you.

I agree; this is what’s driving me crazy!

Visa Medicals said there was an issue with the embassy’s new computer system not being able to ‘see’ things so perhaps this was just one of them?

This happened to me and they also said the issue was on the embassy side.

Don’t worry too much, I had my interview last thursday, went from refused to administrative processing a few hours after the interview (assume they found my medical) and to issued today - awaiting delivery tomorrow.

once they have everything it should be pretty fast, you’re almost there... try not to stress too much! 😊

I replied to your email Catherine.

All I know is I definitely uploaded to NVC so they should of had it, the CO gave me no instructions where to send so I just went on the same website you use to book the appointment and used the option 'consular section instructed me to send more documents'.  Since he gave you instructions where to upload maybe you don't need to do this, all I can say is it worked.

You will be fine though the hard part is done 🙂

Hi! Do you have any updates about your case? Has your status changed?

Hi!

Had an email reply on Wednesday saying they had now received my medical and could see the uploaded W2 on CEAC. My case status changed from ‘refused’ to ‘administrative processing’. I was hope it would change quickly to issued but hadn’t yet, and now it’s the weekend, so crossing fingers it will change next week 🙂

I also had my interview on Monday, Aug 24 (in the morning) and was given 221(g) pending my medical, which according to Visa Medical, was sent Monday afternoon. The embassy also replied to my email that they received my medical and my status has changed from "Refused" to "Administrative Processing" on Wednesday, Aug 26 and has been like that since.

I saw that a lot of people who had their status changed to "Administrative Processing" on Wednesday, Aug 26 had the visa issued later that day or the next day. Hopefully ours will be issued next week. Due to the bank holiday on Monday, Tuesday might the earliest the visas will be issued. Please keep me posted if you have any updates regarding your application :)

We are in the same boat! 🙂 Yes - I will let you know once it’s issued. Hopefully both of us have that relief next week!
