luneta got a reaction from Chris&Ale in N-400 and I-751 Combo Pending -- Part 2
Adding my case here to help others as well. My cases timelines:
I-751 - NBC case
Filed: 2021-05-18 Biometrics: 2021-07-28 Case was ready for interview: 2022-02-09 Nothing else has happened ever since there.
Then, I filed for N-400 (Field Office: Nashville - TN)
Filed: 2022-06-12 Waived biometrics (reused) Received an interview letter: 2022-10-28 Interview scheduled for: 2022-12-06 (letter just mentioned N-400, no combo, status of i-751 never changed) The interview:
Arrived at the office as scheduled, my husband was not allowed in, but everyone was friendly there. Also, almost no one wearing masks.
I waited for more than 2 hours (!!!) for my turn. This got me very frustrated, even the security guards were worried for how long I was waiting. Everyone came in and out, and I was there, just waiting. It turned out the officer I was assigned to was behind schedule (not given any details on what exactly), but these things happen, so I just let it go. She apologized when she called for me, and everything went well.
She asked about my pending removal of conditions and said that we would do both interviews, and my husband presence was not necessary.
She confirmed some basic personal information, then went on to civics. I think my questions were:
- What was the threat from the cold war
- Name one right only to citizens
- Name one obligation only to citizens
- If president cant serve, who replaces him
- Name 3 of the original 13 colonies
The last question I forgot
Reading sentence was something about country that borders the US (forgot it now). And writing sentece was "Citizens can vote".
Then she asked the standard questions for allegiance, if I am affiliated with any groups, etc, etc.
We moved into the i-751 part. She first started confirming some of my personal information, and from there she pulled in the affidavit questions. She made it sound like a casual conversation, it was very nice. For example, she confirmed my address and my husband's, and then asked about if we ever lived together before that, then how we met, who proposed, etc.
She asked if I had more evidence to provide, I first gave her more photos, and she looked at the photos and asked about the situations in them (people we were with, where was each trip, etc).
I was going to give her updated files for our finances, but they were the same banks and cards, just newer statements. She said it was not necessary and didn't take any.
She then said she would approve me, but my files for the i-751 have not arrived at her office yet, so she needs to wait before approving, and if she needs anything else, I'd have to mail in, no need to get back there, but she doesn't think anything else was necessary. She told me to keep an eye in the USCIS status page for updates in the upcoming week or so.
She also told me my oath will likely be to a USCIS office that is closer to my home ( had to drive 5 hours to Nashville), so that's also good.
Right now I am waiting for the official approval and the oath letter. Hopefully will happen soon.
For context, we are a young couple, we do not own any assets together, and affidavit proof submitted was mostly joint bank accounts, credit cards, health insurance, filed taxes and pictures.
Good luck everyone!

luneta reacted to J_M in receive the green card after arrival, share your OS155A status
Hey guys I have an update/tip,
If you have been waiting a reasonable amount of time (lets say 90+ days) please send USCIS a message through your account. Explain your situation nicely and ask if there’s a problem with your case etc.
I sent them a message last Friday explaining that my POE was August 1st and 94 days later there has been no change in my status. They replied on Monday stating that the status is now “application received”. Today it changed to card being produced. So fingers crossed!

luneta reacted to carmel34 in Constantly living in spouses past?
My husband is going through a difficult adjustment to life in the USA and he has only been here three weeks today. Every day is a challenge, he misses his family and friends a lot, then a few days ago his dog that he left behind in Brazil died. I spent all weekend trying to comfort him. He doesn't speak English very well, he left everything behind to be with me, and it is difficult to leave him at home during the day where he studies English and feels like a fish out of water while I'm at work worrying about him. Patience and lots of talking with your spouse might help. We're planning on a trip to Portland together in a few weeks, and we spend evenings and weekends together but it's still hard. I've offered to take a trip back to Brazil for Christmas but he thinks that might make things worse to see everyone so soon. He's studying for the test to get a driver's license so that he can drive and look for a job once his English improves a bit more. There are times I feel lost as to how to help him, but we love each other so at the end of the day that's what really matters. Some say that it takes about two years to adjust to life in a new country, so give it time, talk to your spouse about how you feel, spend as much time together as you can, focus on the good times and make more memories together. Keep falling in love with each other every day, court each other, romance each other, cry on each other's shoulder. Good luck!

luneta got a reaction from pinano in NVC to interview in Rio, Brazil
Leaving my overall experience in this thread for future reference
Medical: I did my medical in Brasilia (I live here). It was very easy, the doctor's secretary was very helpful and friendly, the blood tests and x-ray are all done in the same building. I was able to use my health insurance for all exams, which was cool (less money to spend). The doctor is also very nice, explained everything to me, gave me the "vaccination record" we are supposed to bring at POE. Overall, good doctor place to go, if you live around Brasilia area
Interview: CR-1 Interview, easy, quick, they didn't ask me many questions (when and how we met, how many times we saw each other). Embassy was very busy, but everything was organized, expect waiting for few hours. Appointment was at 8:20, arrived that 7:30-ish, left 9:30-ish
Visa Delivery: I paid for the premium delivery thing, it arrived 3-4 BUSINESS days after they shipped it (from Rio to Brasilia!), so if you live in a city where there is a CASV to pick it up, I wouldn't recommend it. Not as fast as I expected, for the price I paid.

Appeal what? You didn’t follow instructions.
Refile, and if this process is confusing to you (that’s okay if it is), then you should retain a competent attorney who can help you gather and submit all the required evidence.

Just picked up my husband IR1 visa this morning at the visa support center here in São Paulo. I also paid online the USD 220.00 immigrant visa fee.
Cool thing is that for Brazil everything is electronic so no need to carry the sealed envelope to give to the immigration officer once landing in the USA.
Now working on booking our plane tickets!!!
Finally this long journey is over!
Wishing you all the best and thank you all for your support!

luneta reacted to geowrian in Can i Translate On my Own
For USCIS, anybody competent in both languages can do so. A certification statement is necessary.
For the embassy/consulate, they may or may not require a certified translator. Many countries do not require this. If it is necessary, you should see it in the packet 3 and/or packet 4 instructions at that point.
-
luneta reacted to mytruelove18 in Can i Translate On my Own
Wrong information.
If a person is fluent in both language can translate her or his own documents, just need atach a page that say that he or she is fluent in both language.
I am from Dominican Republic my language is spanish and i transled all my documents my self for the embassy and for adjustament of status process and i didnt have any issue with the translation.

luneta reacted to carmel34 in Administrative Processing for more than 6 months
Unfortunately we have seen many VJ cases of AP in Pakistan taking more than a year, sometimes 2+ years. The bad actions of others affect those in bona fide relationships. It is difficult for embassies to do background checks ini countries like Pakistan because they cannot get easy access to databases so it can take a very long time to check out your social media accounts, criminal records, etc. All you can do is wait and enjoy the time with your fiancee while it lasts. The embassy is probably very backed up so they don't have time to reply personally to every email so all you're getting are automated ones. Hang in there and good luck! I hope you can get this resolved soon, but it may take a very long time so patience is the key to not going crazy.

Tired of NVC ... Tired of the embassy ... The state department.. tired of recieving the same freaking answer over and again . Ppl should be mad as hell when it says 60-90 days with PD CURRENT TO get an interview. I. Sorry but why is K 1 quicker. I'm sorry but do.you have children that have waited to see thier dad for almost 2 years.. my expedite was denied. What gives a fiance visa a quicker visa. That's some bull right there. Sorry for ranting but I'm fed up. About ready to pack up and move back to Turkey. It's ridiculous.

luneta reacted to Mwkaasj in NVC to interview in Rio, Brazil
The K1 Visa experience today was very positive. We did make sure that all of our documents were in order per the Packet 3 email links. Passport, Birth Certificate Original AND copy, Police Reports, Medical Sealed Envelope, I134 form and the Sworn Statement signed there in front of the assistant.
We were asked these questions:
How did you meet? Facebook
When did you meet? 6/29
When did the relationship start? We met in person 1st and then decided we wanted to be together.
How many times have you met in person? 5 Total 4 times by Petitioner coming to Navegantes Brazil and 1 time by meeting in London.
Then she said... Thank you for providing the other documents requested. We have what we need to make a decision and your Visa is Approved.
It was probably a 5 minute discussion. What took longer was working with one person to verify and organize our documents in a way that they wanted to review them. Then there was another guy that re organized them to verify them a second time and then he placed the documents in another folder. All was very smooth and fast. We left my phone at a Key Stand Alone Stand in the alley of the Consulate and payed him R$30 to place them in a bag and hold it until we got out of the Consulate building. No electronics are allowed inside the building.

Good morning guys,
Woke up this morning with the best present from the NVC.
We received our IL at 4:00am EST.
August 27th Cameroon Embassy
CC May 17th
My birthday was Monday and I was praying I would get something from the NVC this week and thank the Lord, my prayers were answered. I last checked our status on CEAC last night around 7:00pm EST and it said "AT NVC", and when I checked this morning after seeing the email it says "IN TRANSIT", so I am not sure exactly when the switch happened.
Waiting for this IL was so frustrating. I have cried so much these past weeks, I never thought it would arrive, but here we are now. Stay strong and don't lose hope, your IL is coming!!

Still here no IL. I was just as the rest of the newly added members of #waitingformumbai but after day 35 with no IL, I realize no spreadsheet, no research, no data was fully going to explain to me why we have now waited almost 8 weeks. So at this point hibernation mode or patiently waiting is all I can do. And believe me as soon as I revive it. You guys will be the first to know. As I know how eagerly waiting for information is pure torture in the process.

DQ MEANS DQ. EVERY EMBASSY has thier own waiting period my embassy is 2-3 months .. some are less .. mexico can take up to a year to get an interview. It depends on how busy your embassy. Background checks are done at I130 stage. If anything is found that makes you ineligible...you'll be denied. . Plain and simple put it's a matter of how busy your embassy is and it being summer you can bet some are really busy.. the fact that litterally most embassy are understaffed and are unable to keep up has alot to do it with it also.. I'd say of it's over 90 days you need to contact NVC, ask for a supervisor, if you don't feel satisfied by thier answer contact your senators office and see what they can do. Also make an inquiry at the embassy.. but keep doing those things until you get the answers your looking for. Sitting here guessing is just going to drive you crazy. Hope that helps.

Yes. NVC dies the schelduing but the embassy releases the dates available. My opinion is if it's truly first come first serve. When your case is complete you should be allowed to schedule yourself. Jmo.

After I received the notification for the NOA2, I never heard anything until I got the case number issued. I tried contacting NVC and they just said the same, to wait. Back then, I received my case number 55 days after the NOA2!
I see that your service center is Nebraska (like mine) and they are known for being absolutely the worst and slowest possible on everything, including forwarding your case to NVC...
There's no much you can do until the deadlines given are reached (in the case, up to 90 days). I'm sure there's nothing wrong and you will hear from them soon ^^
