cd37 reacted to Unlockable in Final public charge rule
Sorry if it is coming across that way. I have seen the blame be placed on all sides. The truth is, the system is simply not sustainable. People are living longer. The population is growing. The quality of healthcare is declining. And so on, and so on. People are just pointing fingers in typical fashion.

Personally, I'd like to see all government welfare services ended immediately (for citizens and non-citizens). The free market can take care of it far better than any state program can.
My concern with the public charge rule is that people may be denied immigration benefits even if they have no intention of ever using welfare programs and in fact would never do so. I'm not big on the principle of prior restraint and there are better ways to deal with the problem of immigrants using welfare benefits than denying petitions because you feel like you can see into their future.

Oh please, this kind of comments just provoke people. These people dont complain when other countries put the same kind of rules. I call it “double standards”.

Typical US citizen tricks and threats to beneficiary. Have an argument and then call or write uscis to create mess. Childish behavior.

Perhaps the increased focus will help to increase awareness (granted that we can't fix "stupid").
How many posts have we read from K-1 couples who've said, "We couldn't apply for AOS because we had to pay for car repairs," or "Our marriage is strained because we can't afford to move out of my parents' house"?
A saying in business is "Your failure to plan does not constitute an emergency for me." Translated into immigration cases, this might be "Your inability to support yourself should not make the taxpayers pay for your social services." If the nature and gravity of financial responsibility are clearer at the start, at least a few cases with potential problems can be firmed up or prevented from proceeding.

Reasonable point.......what happens if the joint sponsor dies (as an example) after the immigrant arrives? How is the US taxpayer protected?

A more logical step to me would be to completely do away with co-sponsors. Would do a lot more to make the spirit of the rule effective in my opinion.

I have seen no mention of race in the new clarification....everyone is much too quick to play the racism card....the public charge law has been in effect for quite some time ...I see an attempt to protect the US taxpayer from risky immigrants who would be added to the roles of public welfare.
Side note: I am surprised at the number of people who don't seem to consider what it will cost to live and provide health care in the US BEFORE starting the immigration process. Some people seem to consider it as an after thought.......

It isn't a new law .. it is an old law, that is going to be enforced more stringently

Wow, it's usually the USC trying to throw the immigrant under the bus, the other way around is so rare!
Divorce and move on, USCIS doesn't care about your spouse's drug use (why would they???)

cd37 got a reaction from Dashinka in Trump administration oversees five-year high in approved citizenship applications
People at USCIS are doing their job but for some reason democrats are still not able to digest their defeat from 2016. The only way for them to win in 2020 is whining about immigration and waste tax payers money on investigations.

Collusion in itself is not a crime, better read up on the definitions. Also, if not indicted, meaning no guilt could be found, all they are doing is attempting to make a new form a ruling... In America, if you are not found guilty, you can't be found "not - not guilty"... it would be a whole new precedent. Sorry, with no indictment of a crime, he's not guilty. And that whole probe was a scam. All people who are in jail are for other things outside the Trump campaign. And the Russians.. 11-12 of them? Some hacking and Facebook ads? Man, that did not even affect the election, nor will any of this effect Trump's reelection. Again, Maga.. done.

People will be terrified only if they got their green cards through fraud otherwise there is no reason to be terrified.
