I second the suggestions to include EAD and AP anyway. You never know if an emergency comes up and she needs to travel. And she may not need to work, but she might eventually get bored and want to at least get a part time job just to get out of the house, meet new people, have something to do, etc.

I would strongly advise you to include the I-765 anyway along with an I-131 (Advance Parole)........There is no fee if they are sent along with the I-485.

    Congratulations on getting your AP!

As far as the expedite request, could it be coincidence? Your application was sent beginning of December, and you received approval beginning of May. That's 5 months. Official processing time for I-131 is 5-7 months right now, so this could have been standard.
Did you receive a message after: "your request to have your case expedited ... was assigned to an officer for response." Were you informed that the expedite request itself was approved? That would be interesting to know.

OP, if he is 72, presumably he is retired.  Instead of meeting for a one-time drink and then filing, why does he not travel to her town and spend some actual time with her?  At his age, he should know that you don't marry someone after spending a few hours in a bar with them!

Receipts within the city would be the primary things I would look at to include.

Photos are secondary evidence. That said, the arrangement to just meet once just for drinks and photos + a photo with a local newspaper for a given date is going to look really, really suspicious from an outsider's perspective.

So he hasn't met her yet, plans to go for a casual drink in Mexico, take some pics, and he already knows he wants to marry her?  That sounds like a green card arrangement to me.

Why did you call them?  For what reason?  The "date" is nothing more than a VJ prediction and nothing more.

Calling uscis for this kind of question is pointless because it simply gets you a standard answer.  The same answer you can get all by yourself looking at the website

Kind of an important piece of info that should have been disclosed to the employer because they definitely wouldn't have been hired most likely. Wasted their time. and why are you scared? It's for a "friend" right?

Because it is not just about numbers.  It is based on the totality of circumstances and the likelihood that the beneficiary could become a public charge and attempt to get benefits from a system which they haven't paid into, which is not fair to taxpayers.

The CO has discretion over other things (i.e. determining whether immigration fraud is likely), so why not the financial side of things?  Immigration is not cheap.

For K1, you need to be at 100% (although some embassies require 125%). You'll need 125% for AOS.

Generally speaking health care in countries with socialized health care, you need to be a RESIDENT of that country, not a citizen.  I cant use Canadian healthcare because Im not a resident and dont pay the taxes that go into that health care system.

They need to check with German rules because if they don’t live there it’s not sure they are still covered by medical there. At least that’s how it is in DK but don’t know about Germany just saying they can’t assume they can just get it paid for there when they don’t live there.

Well, I don't want to sound snarky, but honestly? All policies run on a calendar year in most countries.. and if there's a deductible, it resets. Still, having a baby and only coming out with $3000 in bills? Sounds like a win to me, and how an insurance plan with a deductible should work. A week hospital stay for me was a $48k+ bill. My husband spent a mere few hours in the hospital and the total was around $6k.

$3000 is a lot, but that is not the full bill the parents will be paying. The insurance will pick up the rest which should be a vastly large amount.

Also why should they be able to claim a baby on FY2018 if the child was not born until FY2019?

Exactly. It is so frustrating when people here take the time to try to help someone, and that person just answers the questions for clarification in one sentence posts that don't really give us any information that could help us to help them.

I'm not from South Africa, but I just want to let you know that I think this is a great idea and you're awesome for setting this up for her! I am in a Facebook group with people from my country who are in the process of moving here on a K1 or CR1 or already live here, and it has helped me a lot, especially during the first few months. I hope it works out!

If you're going to live abroad and just visit US now and then there is a good chance your green card will be take  away and you wont sponsor anyone.

You can have cake and eat cake. If you dont want to be separated from your family at all, then don't immigrate to the US and stay in your/their home country.

Marieke H reacted to geowrian in Thoughts on start applying to jobs before EAD
My wife applied to 2 companies a few months before she got her EAD. She got an interview and subsequent job offer from both. She answered honestly on all forms and interviews, including that she does not currently have work authorization, and explained that she was waiting for approval of the EAD.
Obviously this is certainly not the case everywhere...many employers won't entertain the wait or unknown future. But a broad statement that a company will not commit to an offer is inaccurate. Some will. Some won't.

It would be unwise for a potential employer to ask about the circumstances of an applicant's immigration status. This opens a path for a discrimination claim.
Whether an applicant is obtaining work authorization via a green card from another employer, a VAWA claim, an asylum claim, DACA, a family member, etc. is not the employer's business.

They absolutely could legally make you a job offer. Actually, it is prohibited for them to ask for any such document before you accept a job offer.
From USCIS directly (https://www.uscis.gov/i-9-central/employee-rights-resources/preventing-discrimination: "Employers must not: ...Ask to see employment authorization documents before an individual accepts a job offer."
Heck, an employer can make a job offer to an alien not even in the US yet and with no visa...this is actually necessary in certain cases.

They cannot permit you to actually engage in work until you are authorized to do so.

Marieke H got a reaction from Cata&Ben in How soon did you find your first job?
I think it depends a lot on your experience, location, etc. But I know several people who struggled to find a job and ended up at Walmart. May not seem ideal, but they quickly moved to higher positions in their store.

I think I got very lucky. I had started subscribing to several job newsletters while I was waiting for my EAD, and saw a job opportunity that was exactly the type of job I was looking for. My husband encouraged me to apply even though I did not have my EAD yet, just to practice the application process and maybe an interview. I got offered the job, and my employer waited patiently for 6 weeks until I finally had my EAD.

The only way to find out is to start looking for jobs in the area where you'll be living, and maybe even applying when your moving date comes closer. Good luck!

I have a feeling this is a case where we aren't going to hear back from the OP and find out exactly what they sent to figure out what the solution is.

I hope they resolved what it was and they reapply with all required documents.

You’re just giving your opinion which I have proved wrong with legal reference. You didn’t even know that one can stay in the USA for 10 months (even 12) straight legally and that there exists a one year initial admission.

I provided my references not opinion, not interested in a game of one upping. The OP is free to choose whether to believe opinion or facts.
