Searched around but couldnt find a December Thread for N-400.

 

Filing date: 12/15/2025

Receipt Date: 12/15/2025

Filing method: Online

Local office: Dallas

Qualify: 5 Year Rule

Type: EB based GC

 

Exciting about finishing the final step for the immigration process and get done with it

Let us know if biometrics was reused based on the latest memo which requires an appointment to update your photo on file.

Haven't submitted yet, but we will be submitting at the very end of this month! Just starting to prepare the paperwork. I'm a bit nervous with all of the changes currently happening though. Did you file online? We're filing under the 3-year rule for spouses of US citizens, but it's not clear to me if we need to (again) provide evidence our marriage is bonafide, or just bring more evidence to the interview later. Our ROC is still pending, so I imagine they will be adjudicated together, along with the more ample evidence of relationship required there.

 

I also just saw someone posted about a new policy about neighbor affidavits and suggesting to submit those with the application to avoid a potential RFE/neighbor inquiry about moral character. Did you submit anything like that?

If you file under the 3-year rules you can upload additional evidence and probably should. Your petition is based on marriage so it's fair if they want some evidence you are still married and living together. I did not upload additional evidence but that was way back so your mileage may vary.

 

You only have 1 file with the USCIS all petitions are in that file and all evidence is in that file. You do not need to submit/upload previous submitted evidence regardless of what petition it was for.

Having said that, submitting additional evidence or previous submitted evidence is easy enough with the electronic filing and so you see more and more people leaning towards going that route. It's not going to hurt your case if you do.

 

Things do change a lot lately and nobody knows how things will be in the future. However I have never heard of anybody ever stating "boy I wished I would have waited longer before I filed later". In other words, get the thing filed.

Whelp, feeling pretty discouraged. We're still going to be filing at the end of the month (which is as soon as we're able), but husband's country of citizenship is one of the new (partial) travel ban countries and looks like they've already paused all adjudications on those. Hoping this all somehow gets overturned.

Just wanted to share that my wife has officially submitted her N-400 under the 3-year rule

 

Couldn’t have got this far or done this without this community.

 

  • Jan 26, 2021 = NOA 1 for I-129F (K1 Visa application)
  • Sep 8, 2021 = NOA 2 for I-129F (K1 Visa application)
  • Nov 16, 2021 =  K1 visa issued in Islamabad, Pakistan
  • Jan 20, 2022 = POE Dallas, Texas
  • Feb 14, 2022 = AOS (I-451, I-131, I765) Filed
  • Feb 20, 2022 = Receipt notice for all three received
  • March 21, 2022 = Biometrics in Dallas, Texas
  • August 9, 2022 = EAD (I-751 approved)
  • August 13, 2022 = EAD and SSN received (SSN applied with EAD)
  • September 6, 2022 = AP (I-131 approved)
  • September 13, 2022 = AP (I-131 receieved) 
  • March 15, 2023 = I-485 approved (interview waived, New SSN received without DHS wording)
  • March 31, 2023 = GC in hand (Total time from NOA-1 to GC in hand 794 days)

The most fulfilling "small part" of this process is filling in that final box of our VJ timelines.  Looking forward for when this time comes for you.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

We submitted online on 12/18 and got notice today about a new biometrics appointment. So it looks like reuse isn't happening anymore.

Same here

 

A friend submitted in the first week of December (same exact case and almost same tineline as ours) they got a reuse notice and we got an appointment  

 

It is what it is.

Hello! My husband is from one of the countries on the partial ban list.  He's due to file for his citizenship, hoping to get this in before Jan first, but not sure if it'll make a difference,  considering I'm seeing an uptick in ppl getting their N400 interviews cancelled, while they do some extra 'vetting' for the i751. Just wanted some advice on if we should proceed with filing and what kind of evidence to attach under the 3 year rule. My husband is from Nigeria

In policy highlites ,  it says

 

Provides that USCIS may only reuse a previously collected BSA photograph if, at the time of filing, no more than 36 months (3 years) have passed since the date the photograph was collected at a BSA.

 

Before covid all photos had to be within last 6 months but covid relaxed this policy 

 

old rules said 

  • Taken within the last 6 months to reflect your current appearance

also states when they will not use one that is old  photo  N 400 , N 600,  I 485 and   I 90
