Thanks for the feedback. We have everything but the original birth certificate..the letter from USCIS doesn’t say it has to be the original. Wouldn’t that be communicated clearly if a copy doesn’t suffice?

In your n400 invitation it indicates you should bring originals of any documents used in the n400 application. If you filed under the 3 year rule you need to show the US citizen spouse has been a citizen for more than 3 years.

This info below about what should be brought to the interview is from our n400 invitation sent to us... Check out the last sentence below.

I’m seeing conflicting info on this site about it an original is needed or not. On what basis do you say an original is for sure required?

On the basis of the N400 invitation on the one hand. It tells you right there what you need to bring. Also on just common sense that an interview is to clear any doubts they might have, for which they’d require originals

Take the dog.  Stay in the truck.  If they ask about you, then spouse can say that you are outside in the truck with the dog, and you can be called in via cellphone.  If you get called in, you won't be in there more than an hour.  Hopefully intact male dog can behave for that long.

For what it’s worth, I had my interview at Fairfax in January. The guard didn’t let my husband in, and said that the officer would call him if he was  needed, so he waited outside. Not sure if things have changed.

Did you have a pending ROC at time of N400 interview?

Yes, that is why I mentioned it. But there were still some covid restrictions at the time, so I don’t know if that’s why my husband wasn’t allowed to go inside or if it’s always that way.

Thanks for the update.  sometimes members will have one thing in common with the OP (interview location) but slightly different circumstances (no pending ROC/ military/ 5 year rule not 3 year rule) which impacts whether or not the situation is comparable.

My wife is the one insisting she doesn't need me there and to just stay in the truck unless called in later lol. Otherwise yeah I'd be going in with her from the beginning. I wish I knew if we can only go in simultaneously or if it would be possible to go in later at the IO's request

Did you initially wait outside or go in with her from the beginning?

We both went in together. We explained to security that we were there for a combo interview and let both of us in. My wife initially went in alone after being called back for the interview, and they came out in less than a minute later to bring me in for the first part of the interview.

She just finished. I waited in the truck and wasn’t called. They removed her conditions and approved her for citizenship and said she’ll be receiving a letter in the mail for the oath ceremony. They didn’t ask for any documents she brought either.

COMBO INTERVIEW!!!!  Great!!!!!  Congratulations!!!!  I am hoping for the same result when my wife has her N-400 interview in Dallas (soon, I hope)!!!!!!
