Hello. I have to send my I-751 package at end of December. I have a few questions:

1) What file/folder did you guys use to send in the package?

2) What is the best form of payment? I read some posts about CC not being the best option.

1) a rubber band

2) check or money order

My finger prints were used 39 days ago and I don’t imagine I’ll have anything to update in here for a while.  Something that has been on my mind lately is that in only 8 months today, I am eligible to apply for naturalisation/citizenship.

I was previously thinking I’d just live here as a permanent resident but with how long the green card processes are taking now (I am connected with other expats in this area who’s simple 10 year renewals are also taking FOREVER, when pre-covid it was a speedy 3-4 month process even for AOS) and the fact my country offers dual citizenship, I’m starting to weigh up the pros and cons of becoming a citizen. It would be amazing to never need to deal with USCIS again. 😍

I do want to do it too. No more dealing with USCIS, able to stay out of the country as long as I please and more work opportunities for me. My problem is that I need to apply first to keep my german citizenship and that's a lot of money and about 1-2 years wait time. So not going to file as soon as I'm eligible unfortunately.

Yep.. i did it for the same reasons as you and  Letspaintcookies   Thankful and made easier by the fact  that there was no impact on my citizenship by birth

Ah yes, those are definitely good pro reasons for it. I have a friend from Germany living in the US who is in a similiar boat. She has decided against citizenship altogether because of the hoops and cost of doing that but also because she hopes to live in Germany one day again permanently. I’m grateful that Britain offers dual citizenship without a complicated process but it’s also simple enough to live here just extending a 10 year GC. My auntie has done that for 3 decades. It’s just getting slower and more expensive sadly.

Yes. Applying  for n400 is no more expensive, usually faster and a once only task compared to repeated renewal

of GC. When we were LPR here many years ago, we would have lost our Aust citizenship had we naturalized .. so we chose not to at that time. Since then,  Aust has changed its laws and we now retained our Aust citizenship when naturalizing here

That’s wonderful to hear that it worked out for you to do that and that the laws changed. I wouldn’t naturalize if I had to give up my British citizenship. Maybe the same will happen one day for Germany too? 🤞🏽

To be allowed to keep the german and get dual citizenship you have to fill out a bunch of forms and explain why it would be beneficial to you. I have good enough reasons I think but not the extra $400 since we moved to New Jersey 🤣

Ok so I filed the I-751 for my wife and 2 kids. She and the youngest daughter got an I-757C in early December stating that their biometrics were on file and no need to update them. Nothing for the boy. Now just last week the son gets an I-757C stating to report to York, PA for biometrics! What's interesting was he had his wallet and passport stolen 2 years ago in Colombia. He got a foil from the embassy and to get his new replacement 'conditional' green card he had to submit biometrics again. The wife and daughter's were good from when I filed their I-485. Any reason why the son has to go and not the rest of the family? I aint complaining but I am kind of curious.

There is a 2022 case being approved at Potomac. But overall it's probbaly the slowest.
