please I urgently need advice on what necessary steps or actions to take regarding my Mother's situation. About 6  months ago I was lucky to secure an interview appointment date for the month of August for my mother at the American embassy in Abuja after painfully searching , night and days. we finally got an interview date in Abuja because Lagos embassy has no date until 2023. But 5 days ago my mother got an email from the embassy help desk that her interview was canceled , and requested her to re-schedule , the earlier date again for Abuja is November 2022 while the earliest  for Lagos is october 2023. I just felt canceling her appointment  is very unfair and unjust,  especially for a 73 year old woman coming to see her only daughter and grand daughter who was born during the COVID19 lock down.

please send the email received from the US Embassy in Abuja, Nigeria, and all suggestions are welcomed. Some friends suggested writing the Department of state, the Ambassador, Ned price (spokesperson of the  state depart), etc.... I need help asap.

Your regular B appointment at the US Embassy Abuja  has been cancelled.
The Embassy and Consulate General continue to prioritize travelers with urgent travel needs, although regular visa appointments are made available as the local conditions allow.  In response to ongoing pandemic-related service disruptions, the Department of State announced the extension of Machine Readable Visa (MRV) fee validity until September 30, 2022 for individuals who paid an MRV fee, but were unable to schedule and/or attend an interview during the suspension of services.  If you have an urgent matter and need to travel immediately, please follow the guidance provided at https://ustraveldocs.com/ng/ ng-niv-expeditedappointment. asp  to request an emergency appointment.

Creating a timeline for your own  K1 would help

then we would know if we could suggest that the mother and baby with (an approved AP) could travel to see her

but no timeline,  VJ members have no idea what to suggest as an alternative

and we have no control over foreign embassies (interviews ,  cancellations,)  or country's rules and possible covid related safety measures

many embassies are not doing tourist visa interviews at this time (since a tourist visa does not require a medical exam,  this may be one of the reasons)

I am sure there are thousands of letters and more emails already written

and when my CR1 case took 6 years i wrote to both Senators (one said no jurisdiction in my area which was a falsehood),  the Secretary of State,  the President,  Representative,  and so many others

Visitor visas are globally of a low priority at the moment, with such huge backlogs for other visa types.  There is nothing you can do if the consulate cancelled an B visa interview - they are not required to do it.  If the next available dates are too far out for you, it might be best to travel with the baby to see her instead.

From the Nigerian embassy site (both embassies)

IMPORTANT NOTICE: The United States Embassy and Consulate in Abuja and Lagos are currently processing limited student and exchange visitor visas and will begin processing a limited number of tourist visas (B1/B2s) on November 30.  We remain unable to resume full nonimmigrant visa services at this time.  The Department of State extended the validity of Machine Readable Visa (MRV) fee payments until December 31, 2021 for individuals who paid an MRV fee, but were unable to schedule and/or attend an interview during the suspension of services.

The truth is that visitor visas are a much, much lower priority than family based immigrant visas.  Visiting has never been a right or a priority.  Perhaps you can travel there.  We all understand your frustration, but your feelings are irrelevant.

I know they have been doing the same in London, seems the earliest you can get an appointment is next year, maybe.
